JC3
Hello: I have two Corsair CMX512-3200C2 modules in my computer for a total of 1Gb. My computer would every now and then reboot itself...no errors no warnings. I downloaded the Microsoft Windows Memory Diagnostic and tested it on on module at a time to isolate the problem. One of my modules consistantly passes, one consistantly fails. I then found this forum and downloaded Memtest86 and tested the two modules, same results...one consistantly passes, the second one consistantly fails. The bad module doesn't fail on every pass, sometimes it takes 4 or more passes before it fails...typically test 5. I have: Asus A7N8x-E Deluxe 2 x Corsair CMX512-3200C2 ATI All-In-Wonder 9800 Pro Most setting on the Asus board are default, no OC. FSB 199Mhz Memory Frequency - Auto Memory Timings - Optimal SDRAM Active Precharge Delay - 8 SDRAM RAS to CAS Delay - 3 SDRAM Precharge Delay - 3 SDRAM CAS Latency - 3T FSB Spread Spectrum 50% DDR Reference Voltage 2.6v Anything else I can tweak or test? What is my next step? Thanks, JC3
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted December 6, 2004 Corsair Employees Share Posted December 6, 2004 What speed of CPU do you have? If you have a 3200+ pease set the FSB Jumper to Pins 2-3 furthest away from the CPU and then clear the bios and install the modules in slots 2-3 and then when you turn it on go to bios setup and load setup defaults and set the timings and Frequency manually to whats listed bellow. CPU Freq: 200 MHz Memory Frequency: 100% Dim Voltage to 2.7 Volts Resulting Frequency: 200MHz SDRAM CAS Latency: 2.5T SDRAM RAS to CAS Delay (tRCD): 3T SDRAM Row Precharge (tRP): 3T SDRAM Active to Precharge Delay (tRAS): 7T Then please test them again with wwww.memtest.org, and if you still get errors with one module lets get them replaced. Please follow the link in my signature “I think I have a bad part!” and we will be happy to replace them or it!
