Illuzion
Hey everyone: I was wondering what are them mobos that can support these ultra fast sticks?? I'd be grateful if you guys can give me a list of motherboards. Thanks
CandyKid
Err... well, most high-quality i915 or i925x boards can overclock to get DDR675/PC5400, but no boards currently have support for it at stock speeds. Personally, look at the ASUS P5GD2-Premium/Deluxe (i915) or the ABit AA8XE (i925XE) as both are really nice boards. FYI, the i915 boards seem to overclock a lot more reliably than the 925's and you HAVE TO overclock to use DDR600 or DDR675, so this also means that getting a 3.6GHz CPU isn't going to be a good idea as they won't OC very well either. IMHO, I'm an ASUS fan since they've never let me down, but I'm currently running ABit and MSI in this house along with a couple ASUS boards. All three get my votes, but if you're planning on the OC, I'd shy away from Gigabyte and Intel boards. Solid stuff at stock, but they don't OC very well. Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted December 7, 2004 Corsair Employees Share Posted December 7, 2004 None of these MB will officially support this memory. It would need to have the CPU over clocked inorder to run the modules at their tested settings
CandyKid
I guess I wasn't clear enough, what I mean by this: Err... well, most high-quality i915 or i925x boards can overclock to get DDR675/PC5400, but no boards currently have support for it at stock speeds. ...is exactly what RAM GUY said. There is no mainboard on the market that will gaurantee or even list support for PC5400 memory because you have to overclock the system to use it. The ASUS boards have an Ai overclocking feature that makes it a little easier and you only need a 5-10% OC to use DDR600 or DDR675, but you still have to overclock and no mainboard in their right mind will gaurantee an OC.
