NukePaste
I have a matching pair Corsair Twin-X PC3200 400Mhz 2x256Meg. When I purchased them I put them in a board that did 400Mhz and a chip that only had 333Mhz FSB. The system ran at 333Mhz and worked fine. It is now about 12 months later. I got a new chip for the machine, a brand new AMD XP 3200 400Mhz FSB. I've even tried a new motherboard in my trouble shooting. Whenever my machine tries to boot it resets itself. This occurs after the post and info screen scrolls by. Right after it updated the DMI Pool data and starts to scan the boot devices. It hits hard drive and reboots. I tried to reinstall XP on it but the install blue screens when the GUI is about to kick on. I ONLY receive the blue screen/error when the system is set to 200Mhz frequency (DDR makes it 400 FSB). If I run it at 166Mhz (333Mhz) it works just fine. I have tested the board with a different chip, and the chip with a different board...the specific PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA errors I am getting relate to a bad memory address either in the motherboard memory, system memory (RAM), or Video card. I have swapped out both video and MB and still receive error. Update: I got metest86 and ram it on both of these modules individually as well as together. The MemTest freezes during the testing and does not complete. I have tried to test on 2 different motherboards. Warrenty help!
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted December 6, 2004 Corsair Employees Share Posted December 6, 2004 Can you tell me the make and model of MB you have along with the CPU speed and it’s FSB as well? In addition, please tell me the bios settings you have set for both CPU and memory and any performance settings that you may have set?
NukePaste
Can you tell me the make and model of MB you have along with the CPU speed and it’s FSB as well? In addition, please tell me the bios settings you have set for both CPU and memory and any performance settings that you may have set? Sure... Right now Its on an Abit NF7-SG2, with an AMD XP 3200+ 400Mhz FSB. On the Abit board I have tried all of the following bios settings and the MemTest locks up during testing of the RAM individually and together: optimal bios settings as well as fail safe defaults, Custom Clocking and voltage from 2.6 Volts to 2.8 for the RAM. Also 2-3-3-6 2.5-3-3-6 and the board default of 2.5-3-3-8. I have also used RAM by Auto and By Spd. I also am testing the RAM on a Asus A7N8X Deluxe and a AMD XP 2700+ 333Mhz FSB. When Is clock it down to 166Mhz in BIOS, it appears to pass mem test...It is on pass 7 right now, and usually locks up during first pass at 200Mhz. If the CPU was bad and only support a 333 FSB, wouldn’t it NOT POST if set to 400Mhz? I assume that since it POSTS at 400Mhz it is capable. Only other thing left for me to try is to put the RAM on a P4 Board running at 200Mhz and see if it works. I have an Abit IC7-G with a p4 3.0 800Mhz FSB that I will test the RAM on when the last 2 passes complete at 166Mhz. Let me know anything else I need to tweak/try
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted December 6, 2004 Corsair Employees Share Posted December 6, 2004 First thing, the correct timings for Twinx1024-3200 would be Cass 3-3-3-8. I would go ahead and test them in the ABIT MB to be sure, but with a 333FSB AMD CPU you would need to run the memory at DDR333, sorry but that is a chipset limitation. And yes it will still post, just it causes a bottleneck in the chipset and may generate errors that are not the fault of the memory. However, I have no problem replacing your modules, but if you still have problems I would look for some other cause. Please follow the link in my signature “I think I have a bad part!” and we will be happy to replace them or it!

OK, well I have TwinX512-3200.(Matching 256meg sticks, right) And I looked up the individual modules on the website and it said 2-3-3-6 for intel and 2.5-3-3-6 for AMD. I tried both. The board that is NOT booting and feezing on DOES have a processor with a 400Mhz FSB (AMD 3200+). The RAM and Board are also 400Mhz...
Wired
You're posting conflicting information. TwinX512-3200 = 3-3-3-8 TwinX512-3200C2PT = 2(2.5*)-3-3-
NukePaste
TwinX512-3200C2PT = 2(2.5*)-3-3-6 I am using what it says in topic... did not work...

Long story short, if at those timings and everything set to 333 Mhz it still has problems, follow the link.
NukePaste
Well, I took the risk and put the RAM in a working p4 3.0 800Mhz FSB machine. It booted and MemTest’d fine =/ I am going to pursue a path towards an RMA of the processor as opposed to the RAM at this time. I don’t think the RAM is bad.... Thanks for all your help RAM GUY! This is by far the most useful and best website and forum support I have ever located for a computer component or product. I got very quick as well as a concerned response from someone who was technical and understood what my problem was and what I was trying to accomplish. Thank again...I will always purchase Corsair in the future.
