Alan Watkins
I don't find CMX512-2700LLPT in the configurator; the closest pn is CMX512-2700C2PT. Regardless, is the CMX512-2700LLPT compatible with MSI K7N2Delta-ILSR? If so, with what settings? Thanks, Alan Watkins
Wired
CMS are System Select memory and are marketed for OEM systems, athough they should work on this motherboard just fine. Don't know what the SPD is set to, but I'd guess it's something lke 3-4-4-8.
Alan Watkins
Got mine at Fry's. What do I need to do to get the official guaranteed timing for these parts?
Alan Watkins
One more bit of info: I purchased these at Fry's as halves of the correspoding TwinX set. The press release for the modules at http://www.corsairmemory.com/corsair/pr/PR_lowlatency.html specifies 2.0-2-2-5, which is in fact the MB's default setting. However, running the MS Memory Test I get errors from one module. If I increase tRCD to 3 I can make it through one pass with no errors. Does this make my modules a candidate for replacement under warranty?
Alan Watkins
>>>First off, purchasing 2 sticks of RAM at different times certainly "does not" even come close to a TwinX set. I didn't buy them at different times, and I never said I did. I bought them in one transaction as a TwinX set. >>>Second the "LL" modules are rated at 2-3-3-6. The link you posted refers to the "XL" modules, which you do not have. You might want to go back and read that press release again. It includes the following text: "CMX512-2700LL: 512 MByte, PC2700, 2-2-2-5-T1 latency settings, Black or Platinum ("PT" part number suffix) aluminum heat spreader " The part number on the side of my modules is "CMX512-2700LLPT" When I run at 2-2-2-5 I get errors. Where did you get the information that "the LL modules are rated at 2-3-3-6?" >>>>If you do not have your RAM running at the rated SPD and you get errors, this does not mean they are defective. I understand that. A more interesting question is "what's the rated SPD for these parts and how do you determine that unambiguously?"
CMC_SAVAGE
Let me start over. I was watching TV at the same time. One more bit of info: I purchased these at Fry's as halves of the correspoding TwinX set. Did you purchase a TwinX set or just 2 modules. My bad on the timings, I was thinking of the 3200's but made a typo. If you do not have your RAM running at the rated SPD and you get errors, this does not mean they are defective. This is still correct. However you edited your oringinal post with the part number in question.
Wired
So you have TwinX1024-2700LL? Twy 2-3-2-5 or 2-3-2-6. That 2-2-2-5 PR sheet is really old. Only 2-2-2-5 sticks are the XLs.
Alan Watkins
Yes, Twinx1024-2700LL. What the spec is intellectually interesting, but I think the real issue here is that when I set the BIOS "Memory Timings" to "By SPD": a) it lists 2-2-2-5 and more importantly b) I get repeatable memory test errors on one of the sticks. So I claim that makes this a warranty issue. But that's really a discussion I should have with a Corsair representative, right?
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted December 6, 2004 Corsair Employees Share Posted December 6, 2004 Alan, I would set the timings to Cass 2-3-2-5 with the Rass to Cass set to "3" and set the Dim Voltage to 2.7 Volts and see if that does not solve the problem. Alan Watkins
I have them currently running at 2-3-2-5 (and default voltages) and didn't get an error from the memory test. But aren't they supposed to work at SPD?
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted December 6, 2004 Corsair Employees Share Posted December 6, 2004 When we first released this part the timings were indeed set to Cass 2-2-2-5. However, we saw that some MB's just would not run with the Rass to Cass at 2. That being said and if you have not tried it I would set the Dim Voltage to 2.7 or 2.8 Volts and see if the modules will run at Cass 2-2-2-5 that would be over clocking after all and the memory controller shares the same power source, so there is a good chance the voltage will solve that issue. But ultimately, I would just set the Rass to Cass at 3 for best stability and set the Voltage to 2.7 Volts and you should be good to go.
