stonemik
I've decided to take the plunge on a new desktop (pun intended???) and I'd decided to go with the HC200ex for the CPU cooling only and I've never done this before. Found out that the HC200EX's are gone and only thing left is the 200-NON-EX at tigerdirect... Will the HC200 cool the Athlon64 FX55r? or did I just blow 200 bucks at tigerdirect? (I found the Athlon 64 retention bracket at microcenter (local) and picked that up just waiting for the HC to get here on Tuesday.) THANKS Mike
Bio-Hazard
It'll work just fine, the big differances are only skin deep............ :D: All the components are basicly the same. Pump is mounted differently and there are air in-let filters. The cooling level is the same between the 2..........

stonemik
YUP it's the polished WB that I'm concerned about - Doubt that I could get one from Corsair now that their life cycle is gone . . .wondering if I could get like a Zalman or dangerden but then one of the deciding factors for the HC was that it will shut down if there is a malfunction. Guess I can contact them tomorrow
KaptCrunch
YUP it's the polished WB that I'm concerned about not too worry for its just, cosmetics just like your photos in satan or glazed finish, the thermal paste will make up the rest for shut down its still the same as HCX

Guess I can contact them tomorrow Actually the problem with the polished block is the copper surface gets marred with repeated installs. That's why the original block was nickel-plated. If you can find the good batch of plated blocks that are flat that is the way to go; they are more durable. How to find out if they are the right batch is another problem. stonemik
Got the HC today but it wasn't the HC200 it was the HC200EX with the filters and the copper WB got it from tigerdirect.com and searched for hydrocool - they show it as the 200 NOT the EX but at least for me I got the EX version today. Thanks for all the help will let you know how it goes (including pictures to come - bout 1 more week before all the parts get here) Mike
