pnicho
Heya Guys, Hope that you can help me, about a year ago now i bought a new pc (components) and built it. When i installed win xp i had a couple of CRC errors, but i managed to get around these. Recently i re-built my pc and i kept getting crc errors again (i also always go this with downloads), and my friend said i should try taking out one of the RAM modules. Eventually i managed to work out that it was one stick of RAM. I just did a mem test on that one stick and the amount of errors after 5 mins was well over 1000. I was hoping that someone from here could help point me in the right direction as i am from the UK and don't know how to go about this, could you help me please. The supplier i got the memory from are useless. My system specs are ABIt IC7 Radeon 9800pro (256mb) 512mb Corsair XMS memory (dual channel) Sata hdd ... etc etc etc Please help Regards Phil
CMC_SAVAGE
Well Corsair memory is guaranteed for life, so your in luck. If this was a TwinX set you'd have to send both back. Ram Guy will steer you straight.
pnicho
This is a TwinX kit, dunno if i have the original packaging still, will this be a problem? Can Ramguy steer me in the right direction to do this properly as i wanna play hl2 desperately! lol lol lol
CMC_SAVAGE
The package won't be a problem. If the RAM is faulty you'll get a RMA # to send it back. Not sure how long it takes considering where you live. I did it before and I overnighted it and it took like 2 days to get it back. Unless you have some spare RAM to use in the mean time it might take a little more time then usual for obvious reasons. Good Luck!!
pnicho
Hmm, I will have no problems with that as i'm sure that i can source a lil for a while to keep me going. How long does this usually take to sort out?

Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted December 6, 2004 Corsair Employees Share Posted December 6, 2004 Can you tell me the CPU speed and it’s FSB as well? In addition, please tell me the bios settings you have set for both CPU and memory and any performance settings that you may have set?
pnicho
This is about the best that i can give you as i am not that clued up on fsb etc! All is standard, i updated the bios about a month ago, the processor is a 2.8ghz p4 (the old socket type apparently). I haven't changed anything in the bios except turning the on-board sound off! Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted December 8, 2004 Corsair Employees Share Posted December 8, 2004 Please go to the bios setup and load setup defaults and set the timings and Frequency manually to whats listed bellow. CPU Freq: 200 MHz Memory Frequency: 400DDR Dim Voltage to 2.7 Volts SDRAM CAS Latency: 2.T SDRAM RAS to CAS Delay (tRCD): 3T SDRAM Row Precharge (tRP): 3T SDRAM Active to Precharge Delay (tRAS): 6T Then please test them again with wwww.memtest.org, and if you still get errors with one module lets get them replaced. Please follow the link in my signature “I think I have a bad part!” and we will be happy to replace them or it!
pnicho
Thanks for the prompt help! I proceeded to check and change the bios settings to no avail though! I still had over 2000 errors after 2 runs through the memtest. Am in the process of filling out an RMA. Regards Phil
