letienne
Hi all, I'm having trouble with my brand new system... I constantly get CRC errors when extracting RARs or patching games... I first thought it was the memory, so I ran memtest for 12 hours and it found 0 problems... I then ran windiag, and each test fails... Is it a compatibility issue? According to powermax my hdd is fine, according to memtest my ram is fine, and according to "CPU burn-in" my cpu is fine... So.... What the hell is wrong    Thanks in advance for your quick reply. Loïc
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted December 1, 2004 Corsair Employees Share Posted December 1, 2004 Can you tell me what slots you have them in and the bios settings you have set for both CPU and memory?
letienne
i tried different settings but the problem is remanent. Currently i am running 2-3-2-6 DDR Voltage 2.8 FSB 200Mhz, ratio 2:1 everything else auto and the ram is in slots 1 and 3 (the blue ones). I tried every bios out there (1.007 1.008 1.009 beta2-3&4). It even does it with ratio set to 1:1 (200Mhz) Thanks for your quick reply!
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted December 1, 2004 Corsair Employees Share Posted December 1, 2004 Please set the Dim Voltage to 2.7 Volts and the modules should be installed in slots 2-4 as well. Then please test them with http://www.memtest.org.
letienne
sorry my mistake... I am in slots 2-4... But memtest is not my problem... I got no errors even with 2.8V. My problem is those CRC errors coming out of nowhere, and the fact that windiag fails all tests
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted December 1, 2004 Corsair Employees Share Posted December 1, 2004 If you are not getting errors in memtest but you are having other problems, that would suggest maybe a power issue or a driver problem. Can you test the modules in another system? That would isolate the memory from your system.
letienne
I'll try to test them on another system next week... Actually I was hoping you would say that there is a compatibility issue between my components. :D: :D: Well, apparently it's not the case... I do not think it is a power issue, because I tried 2 differents PSU from 2 well known companies... Do u have any idea why windiag fails all tests miserably? Because if I understand correctly, it does the exact same thing as memtest.
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted December 1, 2004 Corsair Employees Share Posted December 1, 2004 It's hard to say as that is not a common application used today. However, I would suggest you contact the software vendor for more information about their software. A google search pulled up 868 posts about problems with Windiag and with out knowing who's version its hard to guess. You might also check over at http://www.houseofmobos.com they have some great people there that might be able to help you as well.
