rixonchess
Hi, I just purchased one stick of VS256MB266 PC2100 value select ram from PCWorld. However when I use PCWizard2004 or SisoftSandra2004 to retrieve memory info. they give the following: --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Information EEPROM (BANK_0) : Manufacturer : Samsung Part Number : M3 68L3313CT1-CB0 Serial Number : 23FF2600 Type : DDR-SDRAM PC2100 (133 MHz) Size : 256 MB (2 rows, 4 banks) Module Buffered : No Module Registered : No Width : 64-bit Error Correction Capability : No Max. Burst Length : 8 Refresh : Normal (15.625 µs), Self Refresh Voltage : SSTL 2.5v Supported Frequencies : 100 MHz, 133 MHz CAS Latency (tCL) : 2 clocks @100 MHz, 2.5 clocks @133 MHz RAS to CAS (tRCD) : 2 clocks @100 MHz, 3 clocks @133 MHz RAS Precharge (tRP) : 2 clocks @100 MHz, 3 clocks @133 MHz Cycle Time (tRAS) : 5 clocks @100 MHz, 6 clocks @133 MHz Information EEPROM (BANK_1) : Manufacturer : Corsair Part Number : VS256MB333 Serial Number : 1811756B Type : DDR-SDRAM PC2700 (166 MHz) Size : 256 MB (1 rows, 4 banks) Module Buffered : No Module Registered : No Width : 64-bit Error Correction Capability : No Max. Burst Length : 8 Refresh : Reduced (.5x)7.8 µs Voltage : SSTL 2.5v Supported Frequencies : 166 MHz CAS Latency (tCL) : 2.5 clocks @166 MHz RAS to CAS (tRCD) : 3 clocks @166 MHz RAS Precharge (tRP) : 3 clocks @166 MHz Cycle Time (tRAS) : 7 clocks @166 MHz --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- They give for Bank 1 corsair VS256MB333 PC2700 !!!!! Bank 0 is my existing PC2100 ram. My system only runs at PC2100 (133Mhz) The memory works but I am concerned because the label on the stick is VS256MB266 which is what I purchased, yet it actually appears to be PC2700 in reality. If it is PC2700 memory, can I successfully run it at only 266Mhz? and also can I mix PC2100 and PC2700. Has the memory been incorrectly labelled and should I return it to the shop? -------------------------------- My system is: AMD Thunderbird 1400 MHz Gigabyte GA 7DXR --------------------------------- Regards, Steve. Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted December 1, 2004 Corsair Employees Share Posted December 1, 2004 Yes, but you will need to set the timings manually to Cass 2.5-3-3-7 and I would set the Dim Voltage to 2.7 Volts or with this MB, Dim Over Voltage Control to +.2 Volts and you should have the modules in slots 1-3 as well. You can use http://www.memtest.org to test the system and make sure it's stable.
