Felixmaster
So i updated and installed pretty much everything in my computer today besides the graphics card, SSD, HDD and RAM.. the issue that i am having is that my OS, Windows 8.1 (x64) is no longer recognising my K95 keyboard, however if i have my M95 Mouse plugged into it, and both USB's (from the keyboard)... (or even just the one for the port at the back of the keyboard) the computer will recognise the mouse with no issue.. I have reinstalled my operating system and updated everything.. so there shouldn't be anything getting in the way, from my understanding.. i attempt to install the K95 software.. However as the computer can't detect the keyboard... the software tells me NO.. and to plug the keyboard in.. each.. and everytime. I'm getting to the point of yanking out my hair in frustration... can anyone give me a solution to this? (I am not attempting to install CUE with my non-RGB keyboard or anything like that)
Blackbook
There are two things I'd check if I were you; 1) I know this sounds dumb, but try unplugging the keyboard, and plug it into two DIFFERENT USB slots on the mobo (perhaps the front if you have them). Windows sometimes ****s up and its not until you plug a device into a different usb port that it'll start seeing it again. 2) Check your bios hasn't got any specific keyboard options. Some usb keyboards can be disabled by a bios on startup. what mobo do you have?
Felixmaster
Any seemingly dumb sounding solution that fixes the issue at hand is more than welcome, i have tried this however but it seems to purely hate me, my new mobo is the maximus Vii hero Note: couldn't find any keyboard specific options when looking through the BIOS when i first set everything up or more recent iterations through it
Blackbook
Did the CD that came with your MOBO have any usb drivers? Try giving them a look.... Otherwise, sounds like you're going to need to contact corsair for a replacement claim. :( Do you have any other laptops/pc's you can try it on? Perhaps at work? Felixmaster
No, it didnt have any drivers for USB ports nor does it have such in the support section of the MOBO's website. The keyboard and mouse combo work perfectly fine on any other computer (my old build is an example, instant plug and play) and any single USB cord keyboard (meaning it doesn't have a hub on the back for a mouse/pen-drive) seems to have no issue working on the current build. Corsair Employee Corsair James Posted June 22, 2015 Corsair Employee Share Posted June 22, 2015 Do you have a second system to test the keyboard on to verify the K95 doesn't have any issues? Also, does the keyboard type normally without the SW?
Felixmaster
I am 100% certain that the keyboard has no issues.. before i installed upgraded parts, i was using the keyboard with no issues for about 6-7 months.. I'm unable to install any software as my system tells me "The last USB device plugged in malfunctioned" no matter what combination i use to plug it in (with or without the mouse plugged into the HUB on the back, wether it's plugged into 3.0 or 2.0) i can't even update the firmware either as the system doesn't detect that i even have the keyboard plugged in. If i plug it into the ports at the back and if it doesn't go crazy.. the devices section of the control panel labels it as HID Keyboard Device (nothing else), not sure if this is relevant.. but it's what i noticed. Think i might try a different computer to see if i can update the firmware, then try to plug it into my system again.
Felixmaster
So iv found out what the problem was.. it hasn't solved the problem, as the keyboard is now dead.. i got it tested along with some warranty issues for parts i bought at my local scorptec computer store today and basically what has gone wrong is the keyboard usb is broken, wether that be a chip inside the usb end or something, either way.. it doesn't work anymore.. however the usb hub on the back of the keyboard does. I've only had it for 6-7 months and am currently looking for the receipts and bank invoices so i can get a re-print of the purchase where i got it.. hopefully this can be accomplished as i wouldn't be able to get a refund/replacement for it otherwise (found the box, not sure if the barcode on it could be used with the codes that are on it to help with this) So yeah, thanks for the help you guys tried to give and possible solutions, the keyboard is dead so makes sense as to why nothing worked xD
