rob_a89
I will be building a new machine soon and I wanted to use the same memory from my other machine. They are the Corsair 512MB PC3200 XMS Low Latency Platinum Series ram. I have 2 of them. And I pulled them out one says XMS3205v3.1 which is the newer one I bought this summer and the other one says XMS3205v1.2. Will they run in dual channel or not? Thanks. rob_a89
anyone have a sure answer or should I try calling corsair?
Wired
There is no definite answer on this. Like jsteel said, it's possible, but not guaranteed. There's no definitive answer on this. Ultimately they have different ICs in them. They may be able to run together in DC, but the timings may have to be loosened.
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted November 29, 2004 Corsair Employees Share Posted November 29, 2004 jsteel44 and Wired are right, sorry but we only gaurentee Twinx sets to with 2 modules on one MB. I would just try it and you might try and set the timings manually to Cass 2-3-3-7 and set the Dim Voltage to 2.7 Volts and then test with http://www.memtest.org to be sure! rob_a89
Thanks for the help guys but I think I have decided to also sell my ram along with my computer just by new dual channel memory.
Yellowbeard
Thanks for the help guys but I think I have decided to also sell my ram along with my computer just by new dual channel memory. Keep in mind that dual channel is a function of the MOBO, not the RAM. However, you need a matched set of RAM to run properly in a dual channel MOBO. What MOBO and CPU are you going to buy next? Mike.
