emcee
purchased two sets of TWINX512-3200C2 from here http://www.newegg.com/app/viewProductDesc.asp?description=20-145-451&depa=0 It is installed in an Abit av8. The timing is advertised as 2.5 3 3 6 for this application. However, choosing SPD in for memory detection shows timing of 3 3 3 8. CPU-Z also shows these values for SPD (see attached). If I manually set the timing at 2.5 3 3 6 the system is not stable. Explanation?
Wired
SPD is supposed to be set to 3-3-3-8 for those sticks, although they should run @ 2.5-3-3-6 as advertised. What CPU / FSB / motherboard do you have? Try those timings @ 2.75 volts.
emcee
Tried 3 3 3 6 at 2.8 volts - works fine Problems start when I change the command rate to 1T 3DMark5 and games crash System is amd64 3500 and gigabyte 6800gt on abit av8. Other than the memory voltage now set at 2.8volts, everything else is set at default (FSB=204)
Wired
Also, the advertised timings are only for one pair, not 2. Try one pair @ 2.5-3-3-6.
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted November 28, 2004 Corsair Employees Share Posted November 28, 2004 Wired is correct, and many MB makers suggest DDR333 when using more than 2 modules. However, we have tested this MB and many others in our lab, with 4 modules you will need to run at 2T timings. Sorry but that is a limitation of the memory controller. In addition I would set the dim voltage to 2.7 Volts as well as you will need to consider your PSU, as it will take about 48 Watts just for the memory with 4 modules.
