eb29090
My CMX512 ram (single stick) no longer functions in my system. I get random reboots and errors - most of the time I cannot get XP past the logon screen. The ram has been working OK for many months in the system but recently has gone bad. I substituted another stick of ram (2700 from Samsung) and the system has been running fine for almost three consecutive days now with no problems. My system is ASUS A7N8X deluxe ver. 2.0. I tried several default settings in bios to see if that would help. I also tried the settings that you recommended in another post. The ram continued to fail. Please give me an rma number so that I can return the ram to you for replacement. Best regards, Ron

Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted November 28, 2004 Corsair Employees Share Posted November 28, 2004 Can you tell me the make and model of MB you have and the CPU speed and its FSB? In addition, please tell me the bios settings you had set for both CPU and memory!
eb29090
The mother board is ASUS A7N8X rev 2.0 deluxe. CPU is AMD 2700+ runing at 2.17 GHz. Bios settings were standard defaults first then agressive settings (default). I then tried the bios settings that you recommended to another guy with this motherboard. None of the settings allowed me to even get the operating system running or boot into the memory test program from floppy. I inserted a different stick of RAM (512 Meg Samsung) and everything worked fine. I ran memcheck for over 9 hours with this different stick of RAM with no errors at all. I am very convinced that the RAM is bad. Please send me an RMA number. Thanks, Ron
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted November 28, 2004 Corsair Employees Share Posted November 28, 2004 Running slower memory may give a decieving reading. Can you tell me the exact part# of our module and the bios settings you have set specificly.
eb29090
OK Corsair Platinum Series CMX512-3200LLPT XMS3205 v 1.1 0315018 XMS3200 512MB 400MHz 2226-T1 There is a hologram sticker that shows your logos. I have tried about a dozen different bios settings including all of the default settings for the ASUS board. I did not write them down - I just tried them and crash city. None of them work. Your RAM should function at the default settings for the bios on this board. It did fine for several months. I really don't have time to screw around with this any more. Please send me a RMA number. You can evaluate this stick of RAM at your convenience in your factory but I assure you that it is bad and I really need to get on with this process and get my main computer back up and functioning. Wired
One problem: The memory is 200 Mhz, the FSB is 166 Mhz. Were you running them async or sync, and at what speed?
eb29090
This is an Asus A7N8X Deluxe Ver. 2.0 motherboard. It is jumper configurable for FSB 333/266 or 200. I have it configured 333/266. The board can work with PC3200 (400 MHz), PC2700 (333 MHz), PC2100 (266 MHz) and even PC1600 (200 MHz). It is currently running fine with a stick of PC2700 and a FSB of 166 (so I guess DDR is 333), CAS: 2.5 -3-3-7. I ran mem test for a total of 9+ hours in this configuration with 0 errors. The Corsair memory stick worked fine for many months in this system and then began BSD and reboots. The last attempt to get it working - the synthesized voice alert on the motherboard simply told me the RAM was bad and continuously rebooted. Please send me an RMA. Wired
Just to clarify, when running the FSB @ 333 Mhz, were you running the 3200LL @ 400 Mhz, or @ 333 Mhz?
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted November 29, 2004 Corsair Employees Share Posted November 29, 2004 This table may help you or you may better understand what Wired is trying to tell you. If the FSB of your CPU is 400 For Intel and 100 MHz for AMD, the memory speed supports only DDR 266. If the FSB of your CPU is 533 For Intel and 133/166 MHz for AMD, the memory speed supports DDR 266/333 If the FSB of your CPU is 800 MHz for Intel and 200 MHz for AMD, the memory speed supports DDR 333/
eb29090
My FSB is 166 (AMD) Memory (DDR) 333 I realize that I only need 2700 memory for this configuration but I purchased your premium RAM because I plan to upgrade the processor at some point. I am leaving for Asia in three weeks. I really need to get this RAM replaced so that my son can use the main computer while I am gone. Please send me an RMA. Wired
Your problems may stem from running the memory and CPU asyncronously. If you set the memory to 333 Mhz, speed, does it still happen?
eb29090
HI, Yes, I tried both synch and asynch. Neither works. The last time I tried to use your stick of RAM, the system would not post at all. Please approve an RMA. Thanks, Ron
