CUE 16.8M Color Statement

Recommended Posts

Thus ends the most shameful period in Corsair's history.

The difference in colour gradients for 512 compared to 16.8m is night and day. Certainly makes the apologisers who insisted it was a minor limitation look a bit foolish.

It also makes those who claimed "fast and fluid 16.8M multicolor animation" would be provided seem a bit foolish.

At least we've now got 16.8m static colours. If you want 16.8m colour animation, you'll get the fast, but not very fluid.

Was spending this much time on this "feature" even worth it?

The whole idea of it was to make transition between colours smoother, it made them worse due to the flicker...

The new mode improves the transition in animated color gradient effects as used in the popular Mega Rainbow and Spiral Rainbow profiles.

It doesn't in the slightest.

I see a lot of people complaining about the Flicker with the 16.8M colors. I don't know if it's because I have one of the older\first models (I pre-ordered the RGB K70) or if somehow maybe Windows 10 Tech Preview is doing something, or what. But, I really don't notice\see any flicker, at all.

To me, this update fixed literally every problem I had with this keyboard. The freezing from caps lock, the random profile hang, and the duller colors. (16.8m looks freaking pretty. Especially the blues). I really hope that you guys can get a fix for that Flicker problem, from the videos I've seen it looks really annoying. I'm just not getting it.

Props to Corsair for having the best keyboard on the market.

Are there Plans to include an in between Option?

Like 32k Colors and no Flicker?

That plan has been discussed and cant be done.

EDIT: it does but its jsut not that great at conducting.

Terrible spelling and grammar, but if you can make any sense of that ridiculous comment, you'll find that it's ridiculous.

I might be missing something but what's actually the point of having whatever million colors now?

The whole problem was that transitions weren't smooth due to the missing colors. Now you have those missing colors but still can't use transitions because the keyboard goes into disco/strobe mode.

While I am let down about the flickering problem, this is still an outstanding keyboard in many respects. There are many stunning effects without using gradient transitions. Since this is now the keyboard we have, I am taking this opportunity to seriously explore the programming possibilities, and there are many.

I wasn't disputing that, i was disputing that some slight flickering on keyboard lighting could cause an epileptic fit, and if it could then surely any non flickering animated color profile could cause it in which case you wouldn't buy it if you suffered from them.

You might buy it and avoid setting up a profile that could cause a fit (slow gradients), but you would be exposed to flickering light despite this.

Actually, I'm suprised that Corsair don't seem to provide a warning anyway.

Some form of compensation is in order for this massive **** up.

I'd like to see Corsair create an RGB keyboard that performs as stated, with few bugs, and without the excuses by their marketing department and their fanboys.

I bought a K70 RGB, believing that the dying LED problem of the non-RGB models would be solved, and that it would be capable of fast and fluid 16.8 million colour animation. Over 6 months later we get the 16.8 million colours, but animation with flicker.

So Corsairs keyboard has some shortcomings; what product does not? It is still the most solid and featured KB on the market and with the most programmable software. In my humble opinion of course.

You're right about most products having shortcomings; there's always a trade off unless you're willing to spend a fortune on a product without compromises. The difference with Corsair's RGB keyboards is the severity of the problem and the impact is has on one of their main selling points. This transcends the minor annoyances usually seen in mainstream pc hardware and peripherals. It's a major product feature that's nowhere close to what was promised, without any realistic prospect of a solution.
