RAZOR-SHARP
Being that there is so much talk about the right modules to run for dual channel,I thought i should mention that i was lucky enough to run different revisions(2.2,4.4) of 512xms3200c2 on my gigabyte-7n400pro/+2500xp and be able to have it run in dual channel mode. This is after i came to the decision that if it worked(dual channel) good if not,i would be happy with the single channel of 1gig.I know this doesn't mean it will always work(mixing 2.2 and4.4 revisions)but it gives hope to those willing to try and take their chances without shelling out the extra dough for matched stics.. ;):
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted November 24, 2004 Corsair Employees Share Posted November 24, 2004 Well you can always try it; just I have a hard time suggesting something that I know will sometimes not work. Depending; on the system configuration and users skill. However, 2 single XMS3200C2 modules should be set manually to Cass 2.5-3-3-7 and the memory frequency should also be set manually, in your case it would be set to DDR333 because of your CPU speed. RAZOR-SHARP
THX ram guy, u answer my next question, what frequency should i run.even though my board supports ddr400, i should still set it ddr333?thx in advance................. Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted November 24, 2004 Corsair Employees Share Posted November 24, 2004 This is a chipset limitation. This chart may help you as well! If the FSB of your CPU is 400 For Intel and 100 MHz for AMD, the memory speed supports only DDR 266. If the FSB of your CPU is 533 For Intel and 133/166 MHz for AMD, the memory speed supports DDR 266/333 If the FSB of your CPU is 800 MHz for Intel and 200 MHz for AMD, the memory speed supports DDR 333/
Wired
In otherwords, for AMD systems, make sure the FSB and memory are in sync, or in your case, make sure both are at 333 Mhz.
RAZOR-SHARP
I'm trying to get both the cpu and memory in sync, the cpu is at 200mhz but when i go to the memory frequency and i set it to lets say 166% the resulting frequency shows 594mhz..This sounds wrong? And should i increase the volts?thx again.................. Brav
If the FSB of your CPU is 800 MHz for Intel and 200 MHz for AMD, the memory speed supports DDR 333/400 OK - in my case, as stated in an earlier questoin, I have a P4 3.0 w/ 800MHz FSB. I bought XMS DDR2 Dual CH. @533MHz.. my board says its a go, but will it not work with my CPU? Is this why I cant POST?
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted November 24, 2004 Corsair Employees Share Posted November 24, 2004 RAZOR-SHARP, The memory frequency should be set to 100% or 1-1 with your CPU frequency. Or so the memory Frequency is at DDR333 if you have a 333 FSB CPU! Brav No this chart does not apply to newer Intel I775 chipsets. If your system will not post there is likely some other problem, I would suggest you start a new thread and post your complete systems specs and the problem you see. Also I would try your system with just one modules installed and try resetting the bios and see if it will post.
RAZOR-SHARP
RAM GUY,thx for ur time its appreciated............I set my ram to the settings u specify from cas 3.0 2 2 6 to 2.5 3 3 7 and mem.freq. to 100%(my fsb is at 185)so it freq is at 370.......... .so far so good thx again..................
