notanegghead
I just installed twinx1024-3200C2PT, upgraded from a single stick of kingston 256. [i never had a problem with the kingston RAM]. All is well untill I start playing half-life then I get random crashes where one error msg said "could not read memory #####" and the blue screen of death that said "all physical memory will be dumped"...?..I think. I really am an amature when it comes to the real tech pc stuff so reading the forums kind of confuses me as to the best coarse of action. I downloaded a memtest [not the one you suggest as I got too confused as how to install/run it] The one I downloaded said it would check all phases of the memory and to run it atleast 20 min, overnight preferably to really stress the memory. I ran it for 30 min with no errors but will try to run the suggested test if you can talk me thru the install in laymans terms. I will now attempt to give you my pc config Pent 4 @ 2.4Mhz 800 fsb abit Is7-e motherboard ATI 9000 pro 64MB Win 2000 pro w/service pack 4 After I installed the new RAM my bios defaulted to hyper threading to which I had to disable since win 2000 does not support it. [strange I thought] Any help you can give me will be greatly appreciated, like I said I really dont know what I'm doing so If this problem continues I will return the memory to newegg and try another brand. Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted November 23, 2004 Corsair Employees Share Posted November 23, 2004 Please make sure that you have the latest BIOS for your MB and load Setup/optimized default settings, and try the following BIOS settings; TwinX1024 or TwinX512-3200C2 Softmenu Setup CPU Freq: 200 DRAM Clock: 400 MHz CPU/DRAM ratio: 1:1 Memory or Dim Reference voltage: 2.75 Volts AGP Voltage: Default *unless you have ATI (9200 or 9600) or NVIDIA (5200 or 5700) then 1.6 Volts suggested!* Advanced/Chipset Configure Dram timing by SPD: Disabled/User define SDRAM CAS Latency: 2T (2.5T AMD Platform) SDRAM RAS to CAS Delay (tRCD): 3T SDRAM Row Precharge (tRP): 3T SDRAM Active to Precharge Delay (tRAS): 6T USB Legacy Support: Disabled All other settings should be set to default settings! Then please test them one at a time with http://www.memtest.org and let’s make sure it's not some other issue! I would run the test for at least 2-3 passes to be sure!
