lanjoky
Ok from what ive research this mobo doesnt like the ram I have for it MSI K8N Neo2 Platinum Corsair TWINX1024-3200XLPT 1GB Kit DDR400 XMS3200 Dual-Channel Xtra-Low Latency Memory w/Platinum Heat Spreader Retail AMD Athlon 64 FX-55 Ultra X-Connect PSU Timmings tried Both in t1/t2 settings: 2-2-2-5 (unstable) 2-3-2-5 (unstable) 3-3-3-8 (unstable) 2.5-3-2-5 (unstable) 2.5-3-3-6 (unstable) both at 2.75v and 2.8v 1. is this infact the case? 2. if I contact Corsair will they swap me modules for ones that work with my system? 3. any other advice you have! Btw .... The problems I am expierencing are random BSOD messages in windows and while trying to install windows .... The reason I know it is the ram is 2 fold ... 1 it is not in the list of supported modules for the mobo .... and 2. As I lower the timings the BSOD messages occurr less frequently ..... so those 2 together tell me its the ram .... Thanks Lanjoky
Wired
They are compatible: http://compatible.corsairmemory.com/memorysearch.aspx?modelid=1012 Try setting your RAS to CAS Delay to 3, voltage @ 2.75v
lanjoky
yes I know that is the list and my module set is not in the list .... also you can look above at the timmings ive tired .... 3 in those settings are what ive tried .... Thanks for the reply Lan
Wired
The XLs are on that list, the PT is just the color, and those timings were not there when I posted that.
lanjoky
ok with that said why cant I run my timmings at 2-2-2-5 for the CMX512-3200XL without getting BOSD messages? My apologies for sounding condesceding / irritated .... just kinda pist that the stuff aint working! Thanks For the help Lan
Wired
Try one stick at a time in slot one and run memtest.org on it. If they both pass at default settings, repeate in another slot. If they both pass, then it isn't a slot issue, but probably the memory controller on the chipset. You could also try 2-2-2-5 @ 333 Mhz, as some chipsets don't like to use more than one chip @ 400 Mhz.
lanjoky
thought I didnt post it above I tried all the above settings at 200MHZ and 166MHZ settings and still a no go. Still get random BSOD messages IRQ_LESS_THan and Something HEader messages .... Any other thoughts? Thanks again Lan
Wired
Did you try ONE stick at a time? Did you run memtest on it?
lanjoky
Did you try ONE stick at a time? Did you run memtest on it? Will try one module at a time tonnight .... I tried running memtest with both in ... and got 0 errors after 5 passes so I am lost lol ....
Wired
Was that @ 2-2-2-5 @ 2.75 volts?
lanjoky
yeah but I will run again tonight to make sure .... but yes it was 2-2-2-5 2.75v ....
Wired
Hrm... if that passed then the memory's good... that means that lowering the timings is lowering the stress on something else. Either memory controller or CPU I'd guess.
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted November 22, 2004 Corsair Employees Share Posted November 22, 2004 What you have posted so far suggests some other problem. I would make sure that you have the latest beta bios as the one that is posted may not be new enough for the CPU you have. You may want to check with MSI to be sure. However, I have no problem replacing your modules if you want to try that. Please follow the link in my signature “I think I have a bad part!” and we will be happy to replace them or it! lanjoky
OK I went ahead and tested each module individually in both slots 1 and 3 .... 1 of the modules passes mem test at the 2-2-2-5 at 2.75v flawlessly through each test. The other module in the same slots fales test 5 at the same settings each time with like 20,000 errors or something rediculous.... with that said .... do I have a bad set? I need to know because If I dont I need ot start looking elsewhere for my system instability problems. THanks Lan Edit: Just also wanted tp point out that it doesnt die on the entire 512MB stick it dies in area around 331.0MB 23362 errors to be exact ..... Hope this gives ya more info for the diagnosis..... thanks
