zpacam
I purchased a matching pair of RAM from Newegg last month. (2x512mb, ValueSelect, PC3200 - Part VS512MB400 Lot 0440029-0) Everything was able to load correctly until I began running games. I had occasional lock-ups which required hard reboots. I thought it could possibly be the RAM and sure enough, after playing around with memtest for several hours, I found the bad stick. I originally ran memtest overnight with both DIMMs installed and it found 31 errors in an 8 hour time span. I then ran each DIMM individually and almost immediately one of the DIMMs showed errors. The other went through the test fine. For the record, here are my other system specs: AMD Athlon 64 3000+ (939) MSI K8N Neo2 Platinum ATI Radeon 9800pro Antec Sonata (with 380w Antec Truepower PSU) Seagate SATA 7200.7 80gb All settings are stock with no overclock/changes. BIOS is updated to the latest revision (1.4 I believe). Anything else I should try before RMAing??? Also, will I need to RMA both sticks since I purchased them as a twin pack? (I hope not, or I will be computerless for a while!) Thanks!
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted November 22, 2004 Corsair Employees Share Posted November 22, 2004 Please make sure you have the latest BIOS installed in your MB and load optimized/optimal default settings, and try the following BIOS settings; Advanced Chipset: Memclock Mode: Manual (400) Bank Interleaving: 4/Enabled Burst Length: 4 SDRAM CAS Latency: 2.5T SDRAM RAS to CAS Delay (tRCD): 3T SDRAM Active to Precharge Delay (tRAS): 8T SDRAM Row Precharge (tRP): 3T Frequency Voltage Control: Spread Spectrum: Enabled CPU FSB Clock: 200 DDR Voltage: 2.7/2.75 Volts All other settings should be set to default settings! Then please test them one at a time with http://www.memtest.org and let’s make sure it's not some other issue! I would run the test for at least 2-3 passes to be sure! zpacam
Would you recommend sending both of them back? I will be RAMless for a while if that is the case! :(:
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted November 24, 2004 Corsair Employees Share Posted November 24, 2004 Yes, if you purchased a Twinx set you should submit the RMA for 1 Twinx set and send both modules. Sorry!
