Ogelmogel
Hello! I'm running two CMX256A-3700 memory modules in an Asus P4C800-E Deluxe (Rev. 1.02, BIOS v.1019) in Dual-Channel-Mode. There are no other modules installed. The memory is running with wrong timing settings, but i can't change them! Memtest86 and CTIAW (ftp://ftp.heise.de/pub/ct/ctsi/ctiaw.zip) tell me, that my RAM is running at 2.5-3-3-6. Since the recommended timings for XMS3700 are 3-4-4-8, i set "Configure DRAM Timing by SPD" to "Disabled" and manually set the timing to 3-4-4-8. Unfortunately, it did't work. My RAM is still working at 2.5-3-3-6. What am i doing wrong? Thanks for your help!
Wired
Are they running @ 200 Mhz? If so, I wouldn't change them at all! The lower the timings the better, so if they're running @ 2.5-3-3-6, smile :)
Ogelmogel
I forgot to mention that i have major problems with my memory. Memtest detects lots of errors, Windows behaves strange and especially newer games like HL2 crash very often. My memory runs at 200MHz, nothing is overclocked, and i have set all the recommended settings in the BIOS, like performance-mode to standard-mode, VDimm @2.75V, USB Legacy Support Off, etc.
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted November 22, 2004 Corsair Employees Share Posted November 22, 2004 Please try this version of Memtest and see if the timings show what you have them set too? Also what do you have the performance mode set too? Should be set to Auto!
Ogelmogel
Thanks RAM GUY! I have changed the performance mode setting from "standard" to "auto" and now it works! Memtest86 v3.20 and your recommendation Memtest86+ v1.30 don't detect any more errors.
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted November 23, 2004 Corsair Employees Share Posted November 23, 2004 Good news then. If the system is stable I would say it is done. Please let me know if you have any questions!
Ogelmogel
I'll be away for one week from tomorrow. When i`m back, i will check the stability of my system and let you know. But i think it runs stable now, because Memtest86 shows zero errors instead of few thousand before. Again, thank you for your help!
