AX1200i problems

Hi don't want to open new tread, so i will trow my problem in to this one. This first time ever i have issues with one of my components so wryly will appreciate any advice's. Maybe because its Friday 13th, maybe not, but today i think my psu failed... Did play today for a few hours and than pc just shuts down for no reason at all, restarted and before it goes in to windows just shuts down again, and keep rebooting and shooting down. To stop that have to power of pc... Than i disconnected all cables from psu apart power cord, turn the psu power button back on and try to do psu self test, green light on, heard click, psu fan does not spin but moves very little and goes back where it was and like this few times... Did psu self test in past and fan start to spin straight away... Does this mean my psu dead? Thanks.

REV4M-if the PSU gave you a green light, then it's good. Are you overclocking anything in the BIOS?

johnnyguru - my PSU was working fine yesterday with an overclock on the CPU and increased VCORE, but I remembered that I used Asus's "tuning wizard" on my X99-Deluxe, in the BIOS, and it set an XMP profile, BCLK set for 125, and kept my CPU overclocks, but the multiplier was lower because of the increase in BCLK. I changed things back as they were leaving BCLK at 100, removed the XMP profile from my memory, and I haven't had any problems since. Right now, my i7-5960X is set with a multiplier of 43,so 4.3Ghz (up from a stock of 3Ghz) and I increased my VCORE to 1.30V. Ever since making these changes, I haven't had any trouble at all. For some reason, I've never been able to get a stable overclock on the BCLK nor have I been able to run an XMP profile with my CPU overclocked on any Asus board I've had. I'm happy with the speed and won't be fiddling with it anytime soon. I guess running 2800 DDR4 memory, Dual SLI, and having 40 PCI Lanes, it's too much to optimize for everything to run together smoothly.

Hi, Thanks for a fast reply, i have oc most of stuff in my pc, and yes BCLK is set for 125, because of dominators 2666mhz xmp sets BCLK at 125, my cpu oc at 4.5ghz and i feel that i could go much higher as temps a pretty low, but i dont need that so i left it at 4,5ghz... cpu oc at 4,5ghz set by multiplier set 31 or 33 not sure now, done it while ago, but i know that if i do it by BCLK at 100 i would set multiplier at 45 to get 4,5ghz, but i wanted that ram run more than 1333mhz, thats why i keep it BCLK at 125. Im oc my gpus as well, i think you write about oc, but just two things still bothers me, why self test fails? why fan dosnt spin? its looks its just stuck and try to spin on self test but just strangling almost in same place? and finally why its was all ok since i overclocked ram and cpu for a good while, im only overclocked little more my gpus last week, but nothing crazy run it with UNIHEAVEN and FIRESTRIKE for about 30mins each and pass it perfect.. Il will connect all cables back today and i will take of all my oc completely off by resetting cmos as i cant get in to the bios at the moment, and I let u know the results. Thanks again for a quick reply.

Well connected all cables back, cleared CMOS, and nothing changed, i was looking at the psu fan while turn on pc, fan does exact same as it does at the self test, just keeps moving little and goes back where it was, and like this few times, than its does nothing and pc wont boot... BTW on the motherboard thous little led lights where is 24pin connector one of them just does blink and stays red, so its looks to me that psu are faulty.

as like i say on self test when nothing connected fan should spin, like it did before. Any more ideas?

Did disconnected my gpus and took them out, cleared cmos again, same stuff nothing changed, pc just continuously restarts, and after every restart psu fan try to spin and just strangling in same place, did took psu out of pc, and did self test again, psu fan just wont spin, moves little up and backwards and like this few times, like i say before i did same self test and fan was spinning straight after i did pressed and hold self test button, but this wont happen anymore. So this just give me even more feeling that psu faulty. Btw few days before that happen i was just looking at corsair link, and one thing catches my attention, that one of 3.3v rails was shoving 8v or near that not sure now, another 3.3v rail did show 3.3v as its should. But i though its just corsair link giving wrong readings. Getting very upset at the moment as that psu not even close to cheap ones and only 11moths old, and i cant use my pc at all, do anyone have any more ideas?

Hi don't want to open new tread, so i will trow my problem in to this one.

Why? We have an entire sub-forum for PSU problems. Why wouldn't you start your own thread? You have the same PSU as another guy, bring up another, quite possibly completely unrealated problem and made the thread as confusing as a ping pong match in fast forward.

So let's try this again... in it's own thread.

I can't recall if the fan should or should not spin on an AX1200i when you do the self test, but you are getting a green light, so....

Do you have a DMM or anything that you can check voltages with? Because the "paper clip trick" still works with the digital PSUs. You should be able to find the power on lead, ground it, and test the different leads of the PSU with a voltmeter.

Well sorry about posting in someone tread, im doing not that well by a phone, everything so small there... :) Most forums i ever been if i open new tread geting angry admins complaining that i should not open new tread, but i will know in the future, and again sorry for that. Paper clip test, hm dont wryly know in where exactly to insert the clip as all cables are black, but im sure i will find some way to test it.

So i did checked today with other psu, my pc boots no problem, im even trow my corsair ax1200i in my brothers in law pc, and it does exact same continuously restarts and pc wont boot to bios or windows at all because its shuts down even before it gets there, and doing this shutdown restart non stop, till i do shutdown power to psu. So unfortunately my ax1200i faulty, as both pcs works perfect with other psu, but with my ax1200i both of them cant boot.... What should i do next?
