swank6
I recently built a new system using a pair of matched TwinX 1024 XMS3200XL, 1 gig total. I was having some stability problems, so I checked out Memtest. Turns out I'm getting errors on Test 5. I tried doing Memtest with each individual stick and the errors only come up with one of them. I've left RAM timings at 2-2-2-5, and nothing is overclocked or modded. I bought the sticks from Zipzoomfly, and they say to come to Corsair for warranty. Help appreciated :)
Wired
What CPU / FSB / CPU do you have? Try setting the RAS to CAS Delay to 3, see what happens.
swank6
I have a Shuttle SN95G5 with an Athlon 64 3500+...
swank6
Tried setting RAS to CAS to 3, still getting errors on Test 5.
swank6
So no reply from RAM GUY, but should I fill out the RMA form anyway? Also, if just 1 of my sticks out of the 2 TwinX do not work, should I return one or both? Does it make a difference if I just return one?
Wired
Nah, it's just the weekend :) Yeah, I'd say your RMA would get approved. FYI, it's recommended to send in both, if not, they won't be matched anymore.
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted November 22, 2004 Corsair Employees Share Posted November 22, 2004 Please put the memory module on slot 1 & 3; make sure that you have the latest BIOS for your MB, and set the following settings on your BIOS; Advanced Chipset: Memclock Mode: Limit Memclock Value: 2:1 (DDR400) Bank Interleaving: 4/Enabled Burst Length: 4 SDRAM CAS Latency: 2T SDRAM RAS to CAS Delay (tRCD): 2T SDRAM Active to Precharge Delay (tRAS): 5T SDRAM Row Precharge (tRP): 2T Jumper Free/Frequency Voltage Control: Spread Spectrum: Enabled CPU FSB Clock: 200 DDR Voltage: 2.7/2.75 Volts All other settings should be set to default settings! Then please test them one at a time with http://www.memtest.org and let’s make sure it's not some other issue! I would run the test for at least 2-3 passes to be sure! swank6
I've tried these settings with no luck... Still getting errors on one of the sticks. Also to note my mobo just has 2 RAM slots.

brackets
set the following settings on your BIOS; Advanced Chipset: Memclock Mode: Limit Memclock Value: 2:1 (DDR400) Bank Interleaving: 4/Enabled Burst Length: 4 SDRAM CAS Latency: 2T SDRAM RAS to CAS Delay (tRCD): 2T SDRAM Active to Precharge Delay (tRAS): 5T SDRAM Row Precharge (tRP): 2T Jumper Free/Frequency Voltage Control: Spread Spectrum: Enabled CPU FSB Clock: 200 DDR Voltage: 2.7/2.75 Volts I have a similar setup with the SN95G5 and the TwinX1024-3200XL pair. Failed test 5 and 6 and maybe more. Crashed on certain apps. Put these values in whenever I could match them (not all the parameters were available.) Passed the tests twice, and my app that crashed runs. Although it seems like the computer is slower now, but that probably is just the old speed vs. accuracy dichotomy. Oh well. It just shows that computer always have room to get faster. Thanks, jb
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted January 27, 2005 Corsair Employees Share Posted January 27, 2005 The problem that you have may suggest some other problems on your system, if possible to test the module in a different system, or maybe try to uninstall the application and re-install it again and same for your video card drivers. Sorry for not replying timely, but just to understand, the values you said to put in are correct for the TwinX1024 3200XL and not just something you wanted the person to try on a temporary basis. I have been using them for almost 2 weeks and have had no problems. The main difference that I notice is that on the utility that monitors the CPU temp and voltages, the voltage going to the memory is higher than it was before I put in the settings you suggested. The other values (2-2-5-2) are not different than what was the default. I just want to make sure I am not using something that will burn them out. Thanks, jb
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted February 4, 2005 Corsair Employees Share Posted February 4, 2005 As long as you don’t set the voltage above 2.9 Volts you should be fine. And I am not as worried about what an application is saying the voltage is as much as what the actual setting is.
