dlp
Hi, I have recently bought a matched pair and seem to be having a couple of issues. I have run memtest and it came up with some errors in test 5. Mobo:Asus K8V SE DX CPU:AMD Athlon 64 3400+ Graphics: X800 XT PE I also tried them in the following setup - all at stock Mobo: GA K8NNXP CPU: AMD Athlon 64 3000+ Graphics: Asus 9550 Again memtest threw up errors. However I did initially notice that memtest indicated that the RAM was running at 166mhz DDR 333 cas 2-2-2-6 - the bios settings were on auto and confirmed this? I changed the settings to manual and 200mhz DDR400 cas 2-2-2-5 and ran memtest. This again indicated errors in test 5. These were bought at http://www.komplett.co.uk - do I need to RMA? Any advice would be gratefully recieved. Kind Regards Daran
Wired
Damn, lots of people from Komplett lately... :( Try RAS TO CAS DELAY @ 3, 2.75 or 2.8v
dlp
Hi, should I need to move the timings away from stock? Part of the reason for buying these was the tight settings? Also any indication why they may throw errors on two boards? Kind Regards Daran
Wired
939 boards don't always like Ras to Cas Delay other than 3.
dlp
Wired, thanks for your quick responses. Both motherboards are socket 754, again should there still be a need to losen memory? Would be disappointed to do so as these are recommended for use with either the Asus K8V SE Deluxe or GA K8NNXP. Will try suggestion when I finish up at work tho... ;-) Kindest Regards Daran
Wired
Don't think so, although it may be an A64 thing and not a socket issue, dunno.
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted November 18, 2004 Corsair Employees Share Posted November 18, 2004 If possible, please try to test the memory module in a different system, and see if it will pass memtest86.
dlp
Wired/RamGuy - changed RAS TO CAS DELAY and memtest was error free for a couple of passes. Then just tried upping the voltage from default (Asus K8VSEDX) and the RAS TO CAS DELAY back to 2 - again memetest ran error free for a couple of passes. The only other change I made was to use slots 2 and 3 instead of 1 and 2. Is it likely to have been something as straight forward as wrong default v for the ram in bios? (Still a bit confused as to why memtest generated errors on a GA K8NNXP as well!?) I am hoping everything is stable now and I appreciate your advice - why I never thought "boots and braces" I'll never know!! When I get the opp I will try them out on another system just for peace of mind. Again thanks for the quick responses and advice - kindest Regards Daran
Wired
Coolness! What voltage did you end up at?

Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted November 24, 2004 Corsair Employees Share Posted November 24, 2004 The suggested voltage for this module would be 2.75 Volts, and 2.8 Volts would be suggested with the MB you have. However, I have no problem replacing youe modules if you want to try that! Please follow the link in my signature “I think I have a bad part!” and we will be happy to replace them or it!
