hexfromdod
Hello, I built my computer with one stick of Corsair 3200 XMS Pro. This is reported by CPU-Z as "CMX512-3200C2." Later on, I bought another stick of what was supposed to be the same 512mb XMS Pro. This second stick, though, is reported by CPU-Z as "CMX512-3200C2PRO." Could these be different revisions? I included a screenshot of CPU-Z reporting different SPD Timings for each stick... Hope you can help me out! :o: PS: I'm trying to Dual Channel. For this RAM configuration, CPU-Z reports "Channel #" as Single. I have one in DIMM1 and the other in DIMM3. My Abit IC7-MAX3 is supposed to automatically set Dual Channel but I guess the sticks don't match enough. So... here are the screenshots: === http://www.mustangmods.com/data/9726/cmx5123200c2.jpg http://www.mustangmods.com/data/9726/cmx5123200c2pro.jpg ===
Wired
Well PROs are just the normal one with lights, so I wouldn't worry about that. What revision is each stick though?
hexfromdod
Well PROs are just the normal one with lights, so I wouldn't worry about that. What revision is each stick though? Both of them have lights. I paid for both of them as "Pros." Paid extra, so I'm just expecting to get what I pay for. I don't know what the revisions are. How do I find out? Wired
Revisions are on the sticker on the memory itself. Tried slots 1-2? That may be the dual channel config.
hexfromdod
I know for sure that the configuration is supposed to be DIMM1 - DIMM3 because of color coding and manual reference. I'll get the revisions asap.
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted November 19, 2004 Corsair Employees Share Posted November 19, 2004 Our Pro modules are being sold as a pair or KIT, so if you bought one stick at a time, please check with them or check on the module itself if you have the same version i.e. V1.1, V2.1, etc... hexfromdod
Here is the info I have gathered from the sticks. Looks like they are indeed two different revisions. DIMM1: CMX512-3200C2PRO XMS3202v1.0 0350082 XMS3200 512MB 400MHz CL2 DIMM2: CMX512-3200C2PRO XMS3202v4.1 0423071-2 XMS3200 512MB 400MHz CL2 So the one I bought more recently is a newer (v4.1) revision. Please tell me there's a way to trade in the v1.0 revision module for a v4.1. I don't know how a guy is supposed to keep track of a revision number when he orders a stick of RAM. :(: By the way, these RAM pieces were not OEM, or taken from a Twin pack. They were sold in single retail packages.

Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted November 22, 2004 Corsair Employees Share Posted November 22, 2004 Please make sure that you have the latest BIOS for your MB and load Setup/optimized default settings, and try the following BIOS settings; CMX512-3200C2 Softmenu CPU Freq: 200 DRAM Clock: 400 MHz CPU/DRAM ratio: 1:1 Memory or Dim Reference voltage: 2.75 Volts System performance: Standard AGP Voltage: Default *unless you have ATI (9200 or 9600) or NVIDIA (5200 or 5700) then 1.6 Volts suggested!* Advanced/Chipset Configure Dram timing by SPD: Disabled/User define SDRAM CAS Latency: 2.5T SDRAM RAS to CAS Delay (tRCD): 3T SDRAM Row Precharge (tRP): 3T SDRAM Active to Precharge Delay (tRAS): 7T USB Legacy Support: Disabled All other settings should be set to default settings! Then please test them one at a time with http://www.memtest.org and let’s make sure it's not some other issue! I would run the test for at least 2-3 passes to be sure! hexfromdod
This did not help me as sticks have to have the same revisions for dual channeling to work.
Wired
Not quite. You can gt DC to work with different revisions, but because of the differences, it isn't easy at all to do, hence the recommendations of same revision.
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted November 29, 2004 Corsair Employees Share Posted November 29, 2004 If you have different revision, then please contact the place where you bought it from, and tell them that you have the same revision when you purchase a TwinX set; since our PRO modules comes in a KIT only, unless they change their packaging.
