Gerg
I have an Abit AV8 mobo with TWINX1024-3200XLPRO RAM. Ram voltage is set at 2.8 volts (but it's actually at 2.88 according to the voltage monitoring). Timings are at 2-2-2-10-1T. When I increase FSB to 205MHz the system already freezes when playing Doom3  . This is crap. I've heard people reaching at least 209MHz without having to mess around with timings. Could this be a RAM problem? Thanks in advance.
Yellowbeard
It doesn't sound like a RAM problem since it will run fine at stock. Just for testing purposes, you could try to run the timings at 2.5,3,3,10 and see if the FSB will go up then. Also, I'd make sure you have the latest bios installed. In the past I have had good luck and advice at the ABIT FORUMS. They do a great job over there as they have some ABIT people that check in from time to time and plenty of users willing to help. Good luck and let us know how you make out. Mike.
Gerg
Raising timings to 2.5-3-3-10 did not help. Doom3 still freezes at an HTT bus of 205MHz. I have the latest bios. Is this a RAM or mobo problem?
CandyKid
The XL modules are pretty reliable overclockers, so I'd say it's your CPU/memory controller holding you back. Some just don't OC very well, it's kind of a fact of life. PLUR CK
Gerg
Its not the RAM :): . I set the HTT bus to 209Mhz, latency timings at 2-2-2-5 and ran Memtest-86 and it showed no errors.
Gerg
I think this freezing may be caused by my graphics card. It's a 6800 GT and it's not overclocked. Any ideas on how to solve the problem if it's caused by my graphics card? Only freezes when I OC Cpu and RAM.
Gerg
Lowering LT bus multiplier to 4 solved the problem. Thanks to Specmike and Candykid for trying to help.
jsteel44
Thats pretty tame, i can do 300x4 (1200 HTT) and 240x5 on my AV8, tried a different BIOS?
Gerg
I haven't tried other bios versions. I only started ocing when I updated to 1.6. They say that you need to keep the LTD under 1000. For example, 205x5=1025 won't work and will be unstable. I don't know you got 1200. Your mobo must be very special.
jsteel44
Nah man, in spec, its 1000, but overclockers never stay in spec do they? :D: My MSI Nforce 3 250gb board tops out at around 220x5 and the few AV8s i've o'ced have all done at least 1100, so maybe my board allows a weee bit more but i don't think its anything special.
