MadMilo
I'm having trouble with 1 of 2 sticks of Corsair VS512MB400 Lot 0347077 purchased at Frys on 7/3/04. The motherboard is a Shuttle SB61G2. With both sticks installed, I see random reboots of Windows XP within the first minute or two of power on, although POST reports no errors. With only the bad stick installed, I see the same bad behavior. With only the good stick installed, the system has worked perfectly every day for a week. Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted November 19, 2004 Corsair Employees Share Posted November 19, 2004 Please make sure that you have the latest BIOS for your MB and load Setup/optimized default settings, and try the following BIOS settings; VS512MB400 or VS1GBKIT400 CPU Freq: 200 DRAM Clock: 400 MHz Memory or Dim Reference voltage: 2.75 Volts System performance: Standard AGP Voltage: Default *unless you have ATI (9200 or 9600) or NVIDIA (5200 or 5700) then 1.6 Volts suggested!* Advanced/Chipset Configure Dram timing by SPD: Disabled/User define SDRAM CAS Latency: 2.5T SDRAM RAS to CAS Delay (tRCD): 3T SDRAM Row Precharge (tRP): 3T SDRAM Active to Precharge Delay (tRAS): 8T SDRAM Burst Length: 8 All other settings should be set to default settings! Then please test them one at a time with http://www.memtest.org and let’s make sure it's not some other issue! I would run the test for at least 2-3 passes to be sure! MadMilo
Bios is up to date and settings are correct. Without the questionable stick installed MemTest runs clean. With the questionable stick installed, MemTest starts reporting errors immediately. It found 11892 errors altogether in a pass. The error bits are consistently the lowest 8 (000000ff) or a subset of these. Looks conclusive to me.
