fido
Hi, I have just bought all my conponents couple days ago. Before I started to setup my PC, I almost read all the posts here. I followed BIOS setting as RAM Guy suggested. When I try to install windows XP on it, it easily gives me a blue screen. The error message usually will be "IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL" or "PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA" or sometime the installation will stop at last step "configrating system ....", anyone can help? please. btw, I use memtest to test memory. I left the pc running overnight. (about 7 hours) The report shows total 6 errors, all of them are on Test6. I wonder if it is memory problem. Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted November 17, 2004 Corsair Employees Share Posted November 17, 2004 Please maken that you set the jumper setting from the default 1-2 to 2-3; in addition please make sure that you have the latest BIOS for your MB and load Setup/Optimized default settings, and try the following BIOS settings; TwinX1024 or TwinX512-3200C2 CPU Freq: 200 MHz (400 FSB) System Performance: User Define Memory Frequency: 100% Resulting Frequency: 200 MHz (400 FSB) Memory Timing: User Define SDRAM CAS Latency: 2.5T SDRAM RAS to CAS Delay (tRCD): 3T SDRAM Row Precharge (tRP): 3T SDRAM Active to Precharge Delay (tRAS): 6T DDR Reference Voltage: 2.7 Volts AGP Voltage: Default *unless you have ATI (9200 or 9600) or NVIDIA (5200 or 5700) then 1.6 Volts suggested!* All other settings are motherboards defaults Then please test them one at a time with http://www.memtest.org and let’s make sure it's not some other issue! I would run the test for at least 2-3 passes to be sure!

fido
Hi RAM Guy, I did everything you mentioned. I tested one stick each time. memtest86 didn't report any error. But after that I tested with 2 sticks (on dimm2 and dimm3). I kept the machine running overnight, total 21 passes (not finish on the 21st pass). and I found 6 errors the reports looks like Tst Pass Address Bad ErrBits Count 6 3 1019.7MB ffffff00 000000ff 1 6 9 479.1MB ffffff00 000000ff 1 6 14 443.8MB ffffff00 000000ff 1 6 17 427.4MB ffffff00 000000ff 1 6 19 431.3MB ffffff00 000000ff 1 6 20 379.3MB ffffff00 000000ff 1 Could you help me on this case, I guess the memory is good, but some setting s on my machine maybe wrong. fido
Thanks Ram Guy, that is really good, set the ram volt to 2.8 works. I ran the memtest overnight again last night, no one error appears this morning during the 20 passes. and my xp works very smooth now. Thanks again. You saved me.
