dakrer
Module type: Corsair PC-2100, 256MB, ECC, Reg Small sticker on RAM: CM72SD256R-2100/M 013713 PC2100R-25330-A1 Machine: Tyan Tiger MPX S2466N-4M Problem: Computer started rebooting and crashing yesterday. After ruling out a number of other things I used memtest86 v3.2 to test the RAM. Turns out one of the sticks is bad. It immediately fails the first test (when stick is inserted in slot 2, 3 or 4; machine does not boot at all with the stick in slot 1). History: I bought 4 identical sticks of RAM back in 2001 at CompUSA in San Diego. A few months later I moved back to Sweden. Over the course of a few months, 3 of the 4 sticks went bad and I eventually RMAd them (very good service Corsair!!!). The old stick and the three I got in return have been running fine since then. The stick that now has gone bad is the original stick that I didn't have to RMA last time. Since I no longer live in the US, getting CompUSA to replace them would be hard or impossible. That's why I'm turning directly to Corsair for this warranty request. Do you need me to run any further tests? Thanks, Daniel Eriksson
dakrer
I should probably mention that the memory has been running at default speed (266MHz) in a server, so no overclocking or other strange things. /Daniel Eriksson
dakrer
Hmm, it was at Fry's I bought them, not CompUSA. I guess the stick is not the only one with a bad memory. /Daniel Eriksson
