mmiqhw
Hi Ram Guy, I've a serious Problem with my XMS3502 v1.1 Modules. Today I've got my new board. It's the board mentioned in the title. The Mainboard doesn't recognize all three modules. It's like having no RAM modules inside. I've tested 1, 2 and 3 module operation. No success. Everthing is dead. The typical sound could be heard and the diagnostics leds show a problem with the memory. With two Infineon RAMs the board works perfect. Well I think it's problem with the programmed spd values. Is it possible two update this information. I don't want to buy new expensive modules. Please help. best regards, Erik
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted November 17, 2004 Corsair Employees Share Posted November 17, 2004 Unfortunately the socket 754 CPU's will only accept 2 double sided memory modules; it may or may not work, and even if it works when having 3 DOUBLE SIDED memory modules, it will only run at the speed of DDR200 (PC1600), and no memory manufacturer makes SINGLE SIDED modules in a 512MB or above chips and even if this is possible the system will only run it at a DDR333 (PC2700) speed. Please refer to your MB manual.
mmiqhw
Hi, it's a Socket 939 Mainbaord. The memory simply isn't working in any configuration. It's all the same if use only one, two or all three modules. No screen, no boot, nothing except beep tones. There must be a way to further use my ram. The much cheaper infineon modules work properly and my exprensive Corsair modules not. Please help me. best regards, Erik
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted November 17, 2004 Corsair Employees Share Posted November 17, 2004 Sorry I didn't catch the "2" part on the Neo modeling. Please make sure you have the memory modules installed on slot 1&2 and that you have the latest BIOS installed in your MB and load optimized/optimal default settings, and try the following BIOS settings; CMX512-3500 Advanced Chipset: Memclock Mode: Manual (400) Bank Interleaving: 4/Enabled Burst Length: 4 SDRAM CAS Latency: 2.5T SDRAM RAS to CAS Delay (tRCD): 3T SDRAM Active to Precharge Delay (tRAS): 7T SDRAM Row Precharge (tRP): 3T Frequency Voltage Control: Spread Spectrum: Enabled CPU FSB Clock: 200 DDR Voltage: 2.7/2.75 Volts All other settings should be set to default settings! Then please test them one at a time with http://www.memtest.org and let’s make sure it's not some other issue! I would run the test for at least 2-3 passes to be sure! mmiqhw
Well with the corsair sticks I cant get into BIOS. Nothing works. I'll try to set the values you mentioned that aer supported by the msi BIOS. Bank Interleaving: 4/Enabled Burst Length: 4 are not available. The rest is no problem. BIOS is the latest one 1.41b. I've tried 1.36b and 1.3 too. No effect. I'll give it a try now. regards, Erik
mmiqhw
I've tried the following configurations: Only one Corsair (tried all three modules) Two XMS3502 dimm slot 1&2, 1&3 1&4 3&4 Two Infineon 1&2 and Corsairs in 3&4 Two Infineos 3&4 Corsairs in 1&2 One Corsair in 1, Infineon in 2 and the same modules swapped. All constallations with the settings you posted. I've tried higher voltages up to 2,85. If only one corsair is inside one of the dimm slot the machine only beeps. Only the two infineon modules work. The corsair modules only work in my old config with abit nf7-s mobo. But this mobo is sold to a friend. It the last day I have it. Well, what can I do? It seems to be a nogo. best regards, Erik
