jzclarke
I have been trying to set up my new Shuttle SB61G2 since June. 1 RMA and two professional diagnoses later, finally discovered today that I have been suffering a RAM problem the entire time. I started with a 1GB matched set of 512s XMS3200 dimms. Both Corsair and Shuttle's websites show this memory as supported. I have been unable to complete XP installation due to random errors until I switched out my RAM for some generic 256 I picked up off the shelf on the way home tonight. What gives, is this faulty RAM? How do I find out/get some reliable memory? Sincerely, Jordan
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted November 16, 2004 Corsair Employees Share Posted November 16, 2004 Can you tell me the exact model# of your memory module along with the CPU speed and it’s FSB as well? In addition, please tell me if you have the latest BIOS installed on your system and the bios settings you have set for both CPU and memory and any performance settings that you may have set? jzclarke
The exact model # is: TWINX1024-3200C2. Additionally, on the modules XMS3202v1.2 is printed at the top right of the hologram sticker. The CPU is a Northwood P4 3.0 800mhz fsb. BIOS are those set from the factory. I have double-checked all the settings and they are all set on auto with respect to CPU and RAM. I have done NO tweaking...yet:)
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted November 17, 2004 Corsair Employees Share Posted November 17, 2004 Please make sure that you have the latest BIOS for your MB and load Setup/optimized default settings, and try the following BIOS settings; TwinX1024 or TwinX512-3200C2 Frequency Voltage Control: CPU Freq: 200 DRAM Clock: 200 MHz or (400 MHz, if option are 266/333/400) CPU/DRAM ratio: 1:1 Memory or Dim Reference voltage: 2.7/2.75 Volts System performance: Standard AGP Voltage: Default *unless you have ATI (9200 or 9600) or NVIDIA (5200 or 5700) then 1.6 Volts suggested!* Advanced/Chipset Configure Dram timing by SPD: Disabled/User define SDRAM CAS Latency: 2T (2.5T AMD Platform) SDRAM RAS to CAS Delay (tRCD): 3T SDRAM Row Precharge (tRP): 3T SDRAM Active to Precharge Delay (tRAS): 6T SDRAM Burst Length: 8 All other settings should be set to default settings! Then please test them one at a time with http://www.memtest.org and let’s make sure it's not some other issue! I would run the test for at least 2-3 passes to be sure!
