andrewD2012
I currently have an MSI K8T Neo with one CMX512-3200C2PT chip in it. I bought another CMX512-3200C2PT chip, but the board won't boot with both installed. I've tried all combinations of slots and I've manually set the timings with values I've found on this site. Nothing works. Both chips work fine by themselves. The only advice from MSI is that it would have worked if I had bought a matched set of TWINX ram, which Corsair's site says has been tested with my board. I would like to keep the ram and get a mobo that will work with these two chips, becuase I know someone who can use the MSI board anyway. Corsair claims they'll work in an Asus K8V Deluxe. Should I worry since they didn't work in the MSI board? Does this hint that they are particularly out of sync, or whatever? Asus wouldn't respond to my emails asking about the K8V and the K8N (I'd like to try an nForce3 board, but they seem to have just as many problems and Corsair has only put the K8V on their buyers guide). Any info that would give me some confidence in picking a board that would have the best chance of working would be appreciated. Thanks.
Wired
I'd have to guess the memory modules are different revisions. If so, they may not work together at all. However, you may want to try to set them to loose timings, like 3-4-4-8, that may help.
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted November 16, 2004 Corsair Employees Share Posted November 16, 2004 You may be right wired. The modules in this MB should be exactly matched when running more than one with this chipset. Please check the part# on both modules and make sure they are the same part# and revision. andrewD2012
Thanks for the quick replies. The original DIMM is v3.1 and the new one is v1.2. Does that mean there's no hope? If I buy a third CMX512-3200C2 will it probably be a v1.2 too? That's still cheaper for me than getting two more in a TWINX set. I tried the 3-4-4-8 timings just to see if it would work, but it fails the same way it did before. Thanks for the help.
