legion9999
i am running a Gigabyte 8penxp motherboard and purchases Corsair Xms pc3200 dual channel cas 2 black heatsink ram about a year or 2 ago. I recently ran into a problem with opening more than 4 programs and my monitor resets. I downloaded memtest86 and it said my ram had errors on it. I have never overclocked the ram and have used it for general purposes. I have built several PC's and have not a clue from which reseller i bought this from. Corsair has a lifetime warranty so would they accept it without proof of purchase? I have the original package from which it came and it has a lot number on it? any suggestions? Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted November 16, 2004 Corsair Employees Share Posted November 16, 2004 Also how many total module/s do you currently have and did you purchase it as a pair or TwinX set, in addition do you have the latest BIOS for your MB and please tell me the bios settings you have set for both CPU and memory and any performance settings that you may have set? legion9999
My current front side bus is running at 200 and my bios version is 6.0PG. The ram i did puchase from a year ago is the 512mg twinx matched memory pair corsair. TWINX512-3200C2. The timings in my bios are set to speed so it detects my ram by default. I tried playing Age of Empires and once i got up to my level of expertise the computer crashed and reset. Any help would be greatly appreciated. :sunglasse
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted November 19, 2004 Corsair Employees Share Posted November 19, 2004 Please make sure that you have the latest BIOS for your MB and load Setup/optimized default settings, and try the following BIOS settings; TwinX1024 or TwinX512-3200C2 Advanced Chipset Features (Ctrl + F1) DRAM Clock: 400 MHz Configure Dram timing by SPD: Disabled/User define SDRAM CAS Latency: 2T SDRAM RAS to CAS Delay (tRCD): 3T SDRAM Row Precharge (tRP): 3T SDRAM Active to Precharge Delay (tRAS): 6T SDRAM Burst Length: 8 SDRAM Bank Interleave: 4/Auto/Enabled SDRAM Command Rate: 1T Frequency Voltage Control CPU Freq: 200 Memory or Dim Reference voltage: 2.7/2.75 Volts (+.2) AGP Voltage: Default *unless you have ATI 9200 or 9600 then 1.6 Volts suggested!* All other settings should be set to default settings! Then please test them one at a time with http://www.memtest.org and let’s make sure it's not some other issue! I would run the test for at least 2-3 passes to be sure! legion9999
I went into my bios and set my setting at the specifications you specified. I ran memtest86 again and it again said my ram was bad. Then after i ran it the 3rd time...windows crashed. It gave me the memory error and here is the list it gave me c:windows\Minidump\Mini12004-01.dmp. Ok so now what?
