Will My Corsair HX850w Be Enough?

Recommended Posts

I think it is, but I want to make sure that my Corsair HX850w will be enough for the PC upgrade I'm planning on building.

CPU: Intel Core i7-5820K (6-core CPU)

HSF: Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO

Mobo: MSI X99S SLI Plus

RAM: G.SKILL Ripjaws 4 series 16GB DDR4 2133

Video Card: MSI GeForce GTX 970 Gaming 4G x2 (SLi)

PSU: Corsair HX850

I very well might be O/Cking it too

Thanks in advance.....

When running LinX + Furmark, this system consumes about 550W from 12V rail when not overclocked, 630-650W from 12V with overclocked CPU (~4.3GHz) and up to 700-720W from 12V if video overclocking (with stock cooler) is added.

You have 840W on 12V rail, it's quite enough.

Thanks, well I did a mini-upgrade. I bought a second MSI GTX 970 and it's fabulous! Unfortunately, one of my favorite games SWTOR is heavily CPU-bound, so my 2nd 970 gave me about 10+ FPS more. BF4 on the other hand gave me 140 FPS average, so about 60+ FPS more. Most games are GPU-bound (as it should be) so SWTOR is really the only one that hasn't gained much.

When I upgrade the rest of the computer when I get more money, I'll definitely get a i7, but I believe I can get a 6-core CPU, possibly an 8-core and a new mobo.
