netposer
I purchased 2 sticks of " Corsair XMS Extreme Memory Speed Series 184 Pin 512MB DDR PC-3200" in July '03. CMX512-3200C2 About a month ago my pc would crash while playing BF 1942(DC) and other 3d games. I reformatted and reinstalled XP and still the same results. I went thru the entire update drivers and BIOS but that didn't help either--still crashed randomly. I purchased a new mobo/cpu and still the same. I even sent my Radeon 9800 back to ATI because most of the errors were graphics related. My Radeon is not back yet so in the meantime I ran a memory test using Memtest86 v1.38 and after almost 12 hours I got this: http://www.eastcoastsurf.com/misc/MemTest_Nov04_01.jpg I've never run a memory test so I'm not sure if this is "normal" or my RAM is bad? I still have to isolate which module/stick is causing these errors. I will do that today. I don't want to go thru the RMA process if I don't have to. So if anyone knows what to make of this I'd be very grateful.
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted November 15, 2004 Corsair Employees Share Posted November 15, 2004 Can you tell me the make and model of MB you have along with the CPU speed and it’s FSB as well? In addition, please tell me the bios settings you have set for both CPU and memory and any performance settings that you may have set?

Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted November 15, 2004 Corsair Employees Share Posted November 15, 2004 Please make sure that you have the latest BIOS for your MB and load Setup/optimized default settings, and try the following BIOS settings; TwinX1024 or TwinX512-3200C2 Frequency Voltage Control CPU Freq: 200 DRAM Clock: 400 MHz Memory or Dim Reference voltage: 2.75 Volts System performance: Standard AGP Voltage: Default *unless you have ATI (9200 or 9600) or NVIDIA (5200 or 5700) then 1.6 Volts suggested!* Advanced/Chipset Configure Dram timing by SPD: Disabled/User define SDRAM CAS Latency: 2T (2.5T AMD Platform) SDRAM RAS to CAS Delay (tRCD): 3T SDRAM Row Precharge (tRP): 3T SDRAM Active to Precharge Delay (tRAS): 6T SDRAM Burst Length: 8 Performance Acceleration Mode: Auto or Enabled All other settings should be set to default settings! Then please test them one at a time with http://www.memtest.org and let’s make sure it's not some other issue! I would run the test for at least 2-3 passes to be sure! netposer
OK, I configured my BIOS as per instructions above. I took out one stick and ran the test (one in pc) After 2 passes I had 12,234 errors on that stick. OK, I put the other in the PC and after 2 passes I have no errors on this stick. Wired
Basically they send you an RMA # with their address and instructions. You ship it to them, they ship u new memory back!

netposer
RMA or Customer Service should reply to you with your RMA# and the step by step procedure on what to do next to complete the process. Will I get an email? I did it this morning and still nothing. Also once you complete the RMA online form and click "submit" you get dumped back out to the home page. Is this normal? netposer
RMA or Customer Service should reply to you with your RMA# and the step by step procedure on what to do next to complete the process. It's been a few days and I have yet to hear anything from Customer Service. OK, I just saw the link about "if you completed the online form and have not gotten a reply.." To me this sounds like the form doesn't work. That is very sad considering it's a simple web form and now I'm forced to complete an Excel document and send that in, not to mention another 3 days have went by and I'm back at square one. I'm not sure if this makes a whole lot of sense (a known broken web form with not confirmation page or email) considering Corsiar is high quality memory. It's a great product but this entire RMA process is run like some mom and pop shop. I know you reply and stay on top of thes forums RamGuy but if I complete that form only to realize you [Corsair] have no faith in it's abilty to deliver the data to CS, it leaves me scratching my head. And if the form in fact doesn't work why even post the link in the RMA instructions?
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted November 23, 2004 Corsair Employees Share Posted November 23, 2004 Please send the email to me ramguy@corsairmemory.com and I will see they get it first thing in the morning! Customer Service answers emails normally before 10AM every day! You might send an email to your self and make sure your mail settings are set properly! netposer
Please send the email to me ramguy@corsairmemory.com and I will see they get it first thing in the morning! Customer Service answers emails normally before 10AM every day! You might send an email to your self and make sure your mail settings are set properly! I already sent the RMA XLS file to the email address in your post about the Online RMA form not working. And honestly do you feel the need to tell your customers things like "make sure your mail settings are set properly"? I'm not 12 and I'm well versed at using email. And Corsiar should take a long hard look at their RMA process. They should start with their online form. And they should never require their customers to purchase MS Office (or download compatible software) just to submit an RMA.
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted November 24, 2004 Corsair Employees Share Posted November 24, 2004 First off, I am sorry that you are not happy and you were offended by our comments. That was not the intention. However, mail settings are a common issue with using the On-line RMA request form and the reason that link in my signature was posted. And no you do not have to purchase MS Office. If you use Star Office or some other share ware types of program they all as far as I know offer file conversion utilities. As well as you can use the online form but do not send it, just copy the whole page and past it in an email and manually send the email. You can also call us at 1-888-222-4346 and press “0” that will take you right to customer Service. We are indeed working on another method of using or submitting an on-line RMA request. However, this is a bit more complicated with security as one of the main concerns. So Again I apologize for any inconvenience and we will do our best to help you get this resolved. Wired
Also, XLS is only one option when checking out the RMA form. There is also the HTML version as well as the PDF version.
