Question about my 850 power supply

Recommended Posts

I have an 850 ps that is a few years old.

I am running Evga GTX 770 FTW 4GB 'SLI'.

I have been crashing lately with kernel 41 error - power loss

I am wondering if my SLI cards are aging or damaging the power supply.

Does this 850 have enough power for both of these cards, plus 2 ssd's, 4 seagates, dvd, i7-3777k, 16 gb of system memory, a sound blaster z card which I added a few days ago?

I wonder if the sound card pushed the 850 a little to far, and I also have 5 case fans, and 2 on the cpu, and a K70 RGB keyboard?

I found the following specs for my ps:

ATX12V 2.3 / EPS12V 2.91

80 PLUS GOLD Certified

100 - 240 V 47 - 63 Hz

+3.3V@25A, +5V@25A, +12V@70A, -12V@0.8A, +5VSB@3A

Is the +12v amperage for one rail or both rails?

Could be the PSU... or anything else I'm afraid. "Power loss" errors simply means that the OS crashed because the system shut down unexpectedly. Thing is, a PC can shut down unexpectedly for many reasons.

850W is more than enough, so try the PC with one card at a time to see if it's any more stable.
