BacMan Posted November 15, 2004 Share Posted November 15, 2004 It looks like I have 2 bad sticks of RAM - Value Select 512MB (VS512MB400) LOT 0440029-0 I swapped out the PSU, RMAed the motherboard (I thought this was the problem), tried alternate hard disk and CD-ROM and video card. Everything is pointing to the RAM. I tried both chips individually and I still couldn't get Windows XP (and 2000) to install without crashing. I recently learned of memtest86 (version 3.2) and ran it with each chip individually. It crashed both times, once at 15minutes and the other at 2 hours and 45 minutes. Just to be sure memtest86 wasn't the culprit, I ran it on a similar PC and it ran for nearly 6 hours without any problems. I would like to RMA both sticks of RAM ASAP. Please let me know if you can send me 2 new sticks and put a hold on my credit card until I ship the bad sticks to you. This is something that Western Digital does and I hope you can too.
