Tosa190
My Rig: Asus A7N8X-E Deluxe AMD 2800+Thoroughbred run at 3000+ (Auto Voltage) CorsairXMS TwinX512-3200C2PT(V1.2-Winbond CH-6) 2-3-3-6 (Auto Voltage) Never have a single problem in past 6 mos. Yesterday, I add CMX512-3200C2PT (V4.2-Samsung TCCD or TCC5) 2-3-3-6 on another empty slot. Check with CPU-Z, I have 1 GB run Dual channels all 3 DIMMs, I enjoy my 1GB system just only 3 Hrs. After that it shut down by itself, I turn a switch on again, the system is on but no post, no sound, I press and hold a switch for shut it down but it does not shut down. Turn off and turn on PSU does not help. At this point I cannot turn on or off from front pannel switch. Clear CMOS, Try new Battery, PSU, CPU and Memory, make no different. The last result I see is...when I turn switch on from PSU the system is turned on and shut down by itself in about 2-3 sec. Try doing this a few times, same thing. NVIDIA nForce2 MCP-T Southbridge chip is so hot and color on top of it look like burnt. Does someone have any idea what's going on this cause by unmatch Memory or can be something else? Thank... :(:
CandyKid
The memory shouldn't have made any difference on the SouthBridge, they're not exactly directly linked. If your South-Bridge looks burnt, it probably is... you won't usually see the little sticker oxidize (look burnt) unless the chip got way, way, wayyyy too hot. FYI, the new C2 v 4.1 is rated at 2.5-3-3-6 on AMD systems and should you get it to boot again, you should also set the voltage to 2.8 with all three modules as it'll help your chipset. Unfortunately, I think your mainboard may have died of it's own accord and you should: 1) Try the memory in a friend's computer. 2) Get an RMA on your mainboard. BTW, what PSU are you running? Tosa190
Thank you CandyKid...My PSU is Antec TRUE430 and I also tried my friend's Ultra Xconnect 500 watt PSU, didn't make any different. I scare to try these RAM on another board. And because of I couldn't make it boot or post, I'm unable to change Cas Latency. I'll RMA it this Monday and will rate RAM at 2.5-3-3-6 on new board, hopefully they'll send me a new one with no extra charge.
