Logon Freeze cmx

Recommended Posts

I have a:

AMD64 3200

Ati 9800 256

2 CMX512-3200c2

The first thing i want to say is that i have been running 1 512 stick for about a year now and then last night when i put another (1 512 stick..[same Kind]) i put the stick on the 2nd slot. the computer reboots constantly every 6-10 seconds... then i put the stick on the 3rd slot and then its runs fine untill i get to the Windows Logon screen... the whole machine would just freeze.

i need help badly.. :[pouts:

the old stick is v1.1 and the new stick is v3.1.

I put the new one in slot one, and the computer works fine.... i put the v1.1 in slot 3 and then turn it on and the computer only sees 512 not 1 gig.

i placed the v1.1 in slot 2 and the computer still detects that there is only 512.

Please put the memory module on slot 1 & 3; make sure that you have the latest BIOS for your MB, and set the following settings on your BIOS;

CMX512 or CMX256A-3200C2

Guru Utility

CPU Clock: 200

Memory Clock: 200 or 400MHz

CPU/DRAM ratio: 1:1

Spread Spectrum: Enabled

DDR Voltage: 2.7/2.75 Volts

AGP Voltage: Default *unless you have ATI (9200 or 9600) or NVIDIA (5200 or 5700) then 1.6 Volts suggested!*

Advanced Chipset:

Memclock Mode: Limit

Memclock Value: 2:1 (DDR400)

Bank Interleaving: 4/Enabled

Burst Length: 4

SDRAM CAS Latency: 2.5T

SDRAM RAS to CAS Delay (tRCD): 3T

SDRAM Active to Precharge Delay (tRAS): 7T

SDRAM Row Precharge (tRP): 3T

Hypertransport: 5X

All other settings should be set to default settings!

Then please test them one at a time with http://www.memtest.org and let’s make sure it's not some other issue! I would run the test for at least 2-3 passes to be sure!

My MB bios is updated...

but my DRAM configuration are as follows..

DRAM Timing Selectable Manual

- DRAM Clock DDR400

- CAS Latency Time Auto

- Row Cycle Time Auto

- Row Refrash Cycle time Auto

- RAS# to CAS# Delay Auto

- RAS# to RAS# Delay Auto

- Min. RAS# Active Time Auto

- RAS Precharge Auto

- Write Recovry Time Auto

- Write to Read Delay Auto

- Read to Write Delay Auto

** NOTE**

i put both sticks in the board.... first the v1.1 is on slot 1 and v3.1 is on slot 3. i could see that when the computer booted it would see 1gig of mem... but then it would make my computer reboot.

Then i took them both out then put the v3.1 on the second slot it would do the same.

i then took the v3.1 out and the computer didnt reebot.

i then took out the v1.1 from slot 1 and then put the v3.1 on slot 1 and it worked fine. but then when i put the v1.1 on slot 3 its not being detected. only the v3.1 is being seen.

i then put then i put it back to the same settings as in v1.1 in slot 1 and v3.1 in slot 2 and then the mem v1.1 is only being detected and not the v3.1.

im all confused and short of getting pissed.
