igbe
All, P4 3000c Gigabyte GA-8IK1100 Corsair 3200LLPT 2 x 512 KIT Nvidia BFG 6800 GT 550 WATT Power Supply Misc other things in the system At any rate, I am having some random reboots. I have had this setup for over a year now without issue. Lately though the system seams unstable. I am running F12 bios the latest with the memory setup as 2/3/2/6 +.01 over volt. However, before, this all started. I was able to run those timings without the over volt. Last night the system starts to reboot again, fails memory test etc out of the clear blue. Now to get it stable without these issues its +.02 over volt. I am thinking this is an issue with the motherboard but I am at a loss at this time. I do not have another system to test the memory in. Thoughts please? This is not making much sense to me. If it is the main board I was thinking of replacing it with a P4S800D-E Deluxe. I would like your thoughts on this as well. I am ok with +2 on the over volt, but, since this is a new development, I am having a hard time understanding why it's needed now. I really cannot be without my machine for more then a few days. So sending the memory in for testing is a painful decision. Thanks, John
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted November 8, 2004 Corsair Employees Share Posted November 8, 2004 I would see if a friend can maybe help you test the modules in another system. But +.2 Volts is with in the max support voltage of 2.9 Volts, so if that solves the problem I would just set it to +.2 Volts and you should be fine! igbe
Ram guy, Thanks for the reply. I really don't have an issue leaving it at +0.2 volts. MY worry is the fact for 10+ months I did not need any over voltage setting. Then for the past 2-3 weeks it worked fine on just +0.1. Then the problems came back again but went away when I raised it again. Thats my only concern if it does not come back then all is well. If it does I am stuck as to what to do. I have no friends with close to a system to be able to test the memory on. John
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted November 9, 2004 Corsair Employees Share Posted November 9, 2004 John, it’s hard to say, but I can tell you that if our modules ever fail we will replace them. However, that is not uncommon, but it may also be an indication of and impending failure or just the system breaking in. So I would just keep an eye on the system and we will be happy to replace the modules if needed!

So I would just keep an eye on the system and we will be happy to replace the modules if needed! Ramguy, This weekend I started to have problems again. I had to back the cas from 2.0 to 2.5 to regain system stability. This is starting to get really frustrating. The memory was a gift last Nov, so I do not have a receipt. Not sure since this is a lifetime warranty if this matters or not. I also don't have an issue testing a new MB except money is tight with the new baby. If that does not fix the issue, I am out of pocket that expense. What would you recommend we do at this point? Happens with both chips in one at a time and with them both in the system together. With Half Life 2 and WOW coming out in a matter of day's it makes things even more frustrating for me. Thanks again for all the help you have given me so far! Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted November 17, 2004 Corsair Employees Share Posted November 17, 2004 That might suggest a power problem, can you test the modules in another system?
mjrtoo
I have 2 sets of TWINX3200-512 LLPT (1 GB) running in my system with GA-8IK1000 with no problems. Make sure you have BIOS F12 and choose the OPTIMIZED settings in the bios. Also, use SPD settings to get it going, then you can tweak the RAM speed from there. Overall, I'm very happy with the mobo/RAM combo, but I am thinking of going to the P4C800-E-Deluxe board just because....
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted November 30, 2004 Corsair Employees Share Posted November 30, 2004 And you might test the modules with http://www.memtest.org one module at a time with http://www.memtest.org
