TheThriller
I currently have 2 sticks of Corsair XMS512-3200LLPRO, and one just recently decided to stop working. The system will not POST with this "dead" stick installed. Now that's out of the way, I've had problems with these 2 sticks from Day 1, they WILL NOT run 200Mhz with the timings of 2-3-2-6 as they are specified they will run, they won't do it anywhere in the range of 2.5-2.9 volts my Epox 8RDA3+ will provide. I was content to run them at 83% of fsb since I've had them, but now with 1 stick dead I'd like to go ahead and just get something that works within spec.... Is this a known problem with the 8RDA3+, or is this probably just slightly faulty RAM?
Wired
What CPU / FSB do you have? Have you tried the dead stick in multiple slots?
TheThriller
Well I had the cpu at 216x12 for 2600mhz, but with the ram divider at 83% (because it won't even run 200mhz), the ram was at ~179mhz. Yes I tried all 3 slots, and the PC won't POST with the dead stick installed.
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted November 5, 2004 Corsair Employees Share Posted November 5, 2004 Please make sure that you have the latest BIOS for your MB and load Setup/Optimized default settings, and try the following BIOS settings; TwinX1024 or TwinX512-3200LL CPU Freq: 166 MHz (333 FSB) System Performance: User Define Memory Frequency: 100% Resulting Frequency: 166 MHz (333 FSB) Memory Timing: User Define SDRAM CAS Latency: 2T SDRAM RAS to CAS Delay (tRCD): 3T SDRAM Row Precharge (tRP): 2T SDRAM Active to Precharge Delay (tRAS): 6T DDR Reference Voltage: 2.7 Volts AGP Voltage: Default *unless you have ATI (9200 or 9600) or NVIDIA (5200 or 5700) then 1.6 Volts suggested!* All other settings are motherboards defaults Then please test them one at a time with http://www.memtest.org and let’s make sure it's not some other issue! I would run the test for at least 2-3 passes to be sure!
