Cortexian
Hey everyone, It looks like Corsair has launched two different SKUs of the K70 RGB Red Switch model at this point. Not sure why they did this, but it looks like the newer one has "Corsair Gaming" branding on it instead of the normal Corsair logo. The box is different and so is the Corsair logo on the keyboard. I figured I'd clarify this for people. This is likely why Amazon removed the original SKU from their website. They won't be getting anymore, and will likely only be getting the new SKU. This is what the original SKU (Part Number: CH-9000063-NA) looked like: http://i.imgur.com/rvQa64E.png This is the new one (Part Number: CH-9000068-NA), which I assume is launching with the Blue and Brown switch models as well since they all share the same Corsair Gaming branding: http://i.imgur.com/aZCSst4.png Personally I'm a little sad. I preferred the cleaner gunmetal Corsair logo on CH-9000063-NA and I was hoping to get a model with blue switches that looked exactly like that. Not a fan of the new Corsair Gaming logo or color scheme. If the logo was backlit too, that would be a different story, but the fixed colors of the logo seem to defeat the purpose of allowing me to customize how the keyboard looks. The subdued logo they used before was much better suited to blending with whatever color you set IMO. Will have to paint the new one, or remove it somehow. musicequips
New software?
Cortexian
I doubt it, the original didn't come bundled with software and I doubt the new one will either. That way they make sure new owners always have to download the latest version of the software. They're probably the exact same keyboard hardware with the exception of logo/branding and switch type (Red / Blue / Brown).
Corsair Employees Corsair James Posted September 22, 2014 Corsair Employees Share Posted September 22, 2014 Cortexian: Yes you are correct. Same exact hardware with exception of branding and more switch types available. There is an upcoming update to FW and SW later today. Stay tuned! Schwartz
So glad I got one of the first ones with the original logo and not the new one with the tramp stamp on it.
Cortexian
Now I just need my store to hurry up and get inventory of the blue switch model in. Tried the red and had to return it, to easy to accidentally hit keys with that linear switch...
Slapstick83
The new logo on this keyboard looks horrendous :( And I was even looking forward to buying one before this...
Cortexian
It's just the "gaming" part in a different color that gets me. They should of used the original gun metal style color for the whole logo, including the new image that replaced the Corsair sail.
Riekopo
My god the newer model looks terrible.
jetguat
thanks for this thread. I was trying to figure out the differences in the CH-9000063-NA and the CH-9000068-NA Apparently its mostly the sticker at the top. Now. with everyone basically sold out of these. How shall I determine if I want Cherry Red, Brown, or Blue. I understand Red doesn't have click, and pressed down smooth. I know the blue is the loudest and has most tactile. Brown is no click but tactile? I mostly type, software development. I have some games and like to game. But not sure how/why red is so often preferred for gamers. I was leaning toward brown, but not for super solid reason. How to decide?
jetguat
Question for anyone of you that have a K70 RGB. How long is the cable. I tend to keep my PC within a closet with a cable route/tube through the wall. Just like to keep the room looking cleaner and it helps with the dust. I might en up needing some type of USB extender, but want to know how long the cable is anyway. Thanks
Protocol48
My K70 RGB keyboard's whole cable length is 2 meters (~78").
