Optimal timmings for A7N8X Deluxe

Hi

I have a system with the following components:

Asus A7N8X Deluxe (revision 1.04) (bios 1008)

AMD Barton 2800+ (166 mhz core)

2 x CMX256A - 3200C2 (xms3202v1.2 / 0311654) (not TwinX, though bought at same time and place)

1 x CMX512 - 3200C2 (xms3202v3.1 / 0427115-0) (bought later)

At the moment I have the 2 x 256 sticks in bank 0 and 1, and the 512 stick in bank 2. I have tried to run with a memory voltage of 2.7, and timmings at 2-2-2-5 at 100% of the cpu core.

Is this correct, or should I try some other timmings/voltage to get the best out of my system.

Also, what timmings should I use, if I buy fx a 3200+ barton (200 mhz core) ??

Thanks

I would not suggest a 3200+ with this configuration. But for the timings I would set them manually to Cass 2.5-3-3-7 and set the Dim Voltage to 2.8 Volts. The 2-256 Meg modules should be in slots 1-2 and the 512 Meg should be in slot 3 and then set the following settings.

CPU Freq: 166 MHz

Memory Frequency: 100%

Dim Voltage to 2.8 Volts

Resulting Frequency: 166MHz

SDRAM CAS Latency: 2.5T

SDRAM RAS to CAS Delay (tRCD): 3T

SDRAM Row Precharge (tRP): 3T

SDRAM Active to Precharge Delay (tRAS): 7T

Then test the system with http://www.memtest.org. If the system is stable you can try more aggressive settings, but I would not suggest anyone try what you are doing with different modules.

The original A7N8X was rated at a Max of 333 MHz and some have found that this MB would just not run a 3000+ or 3200+ 200 FSB CPU. I have found they will over clock and run better with a 2800+. I have one running at 3200+ speeds with no problems, but the MB I have just will not run with a real 3200+! It’s a Rev 1.04.

Hi again.

Had some problems with my computer, turned out that the motherboard was defect. Still had warranty on it, so got a new one, but this time it is a A7N8X-E Deluxe. So my question is, what timmings should I use, with above mentioned ram modules, when I clock my Barton to 3200+ (400 mhz bus)

Guess my previos posts where in vain.

Hope you understand.

Please make sure that the FSB Jumper is set to pins 2-3 furthest away from the CPU and that you have bios version 1.012 or newer then load setup defaults and set the following timings:

CPU Freq: 200 MHz

System Performance: User defined

Memory Frequency: 100%

Dim Voltage to 2.8 Volts

Resulting Frequency: 200MHz/DDR400

SDRAM CAS Latency: 2.5T

SDRAM RAS to CAS Delay (tRCD): 3T

SDRAM Row Precharge (tRP): 3T

SDRAM Active to Precharge Delay (tRAS): 7T
