manibs
I have an asus p4c800e deluxe and a corsair twinx xms -pc3700. I had been running this system for almost an year before it started running into problems. I RMA'd my mobo and the new one has Bios v 1017. But still the system does not boot. As soon as I power it, it starts and then stops and this start/stop routine continues. I have set the BIOS memory setting at 3-4-4-8 and Iam not overclocking. Iam using p4@2.4 . Please suggest what I can do to fix this.
Gorganzola
Have you tested the memory in another system? Have you tested the memory using http://www.memtest.org? These are the recommended timings: TWINX1024-3700 Data Sheet TWINX512-3700 Data Sheet Motherboard make and model: Asus P4C800/-E and/or Abit IC7/-G. Each pair is tested and packaged together using the following settings: CPU External Frequency: Manually set to 233MHz DRAM Clock: Manually set to 1:1 or 400MHz SDRAM CAS Latency: 3T SDRAM RAS to CAS Delay (tRCD): 4T SDRAM Row Precharge (tRP): 4T SDRAM Active to Precharge Delay (tRAS): 8T SDRAM Bank Interleave: 4 Bank All other settings are motherboard defaults. Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted November 3, 2004 Corsair Employees Share Posted November 3, 2004 I would try and test the modules one at a time with http://www.memtest.org. Will the system let you boot to a floppy or CD?

Reset the CLRTC jumper per the manual and try to reboot again. Mike.
manibs
I have made the following changes in BIOS and ran the memtest. Advanced Menu JumperFree Config AI Overclock tuner - Manual CPU External Frequency - 200Mhz (It is fixed - IAm not able to change) DRAM Frequency - 400 Mhz ChipSet Configure DRAM by SPD = Disabled DRAM CAS Latency - 3 DRAM RAS Precharge -4 DRAM RAS to CAS Delay - 4 DRAM Precharge Delay - 8 DRAM Burst Length - 4 The memtests did not fail for any of the modules. But it is still not stable. It runs for a few hours and then shuts down. Do I need to change any other setting.
Yellowbeard
CPU External Frequency - 200Mhz (It is fixed - IAm not able to change). To change the FSB frequency hold the shfit button down and use the + to raise the FSB. The - will lower it and you do not have to use the shfit button when lowering the FSB Also, raise your RAM voltage to 2.75v. Make sure your Performance Mode on the CPU is at Standard and the RAM turbo is at AUTO. Set your burst length to 8. When your system crashes does it crash to a reboot or do you get a blue screen and stop error? If it is a stop error what is the error number. And, what power supply are you using? Mike. manibs
I was able to change the CPU frequency. I have made the other changes too. Iam going to let it run for a day. And it was always crashimg to a reboot. Thanks
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted November 8, 2004 Corsair Employees Share Posted November 8, 2004 I would also set the Dim Volatge to 2.85 Volts and test the modules one at a time with http://www.memtest.org and you will need to Disable legacy USB when running this program!
