P S Y C H O
I ran Everest and here is the info... 130.2 ns PC3200 DDR SDRAM 2.5-4-4-8  The Alienware BIOS does not allow manual timing settings. :[pouts:
Wired
If those are the only sticks in there, and you can't set the timings manually, you might want to try the original sticks in there, and see what everest says about their timings. If they're the same, then Alienware has locked them down at those timings. Kinda odd that they of all companies would do that though. You may want to call them up, as there may just be a key combo that you have to hit to let you get access to change the timings.
P S Y C H O
This is the timing for my original ram... Logical/Chipset 1 Memory Banks Bank 0 : 512MB DDR-SDRAM 2.5-3-3-7CL 2CMD Bank 1 : 512MB DDR-SDRAM 2.5-3-3-7CL 2CMD
Wired
If you already had 1 GB, why get 1 GB to replace it? Anyway, contact Alienware to see if there is a way to change those settings.
P S Y C H O
I had PC2700 and upgraded to PC3200 for better performance. Based on the information below, I am getting better performance but I could have saved $100 and gotten even better performance if I purchased Samsung vs. Corsair XMS. MY OLD RAM Memory Bandwidth Benchmark: RAM Bandwidth Int Buff'd iSSE2 : 2319MB/s RAM Bandwidth Float Buff'd iSSE2 : 2321MB/s Cache & Memory Benchmark: Combined Index : 7314MB/s MY NEW RAM Memory Bandwidth Benchmark: RAM Bandwidth Int Buff'd iSSE2 : 2745MB/s RAM Bandwidth Float Buff'd iSSE2 : 2740MB/s Cache & Memory Benchmark: Combined Index : 7520MB/s OTHER AW USER WITH SAMSUNG PC3200 1GIG Memory Bandwidth Benchmark: Ram Int 2907 mb/s Ram Float 2902 mb/s Cache & Memory Benchmark: Combined index 8064 mb/s
