tjb1023
Hello all, I am new to this forum but I see a lot of good answers here so I thought I would post my problem here. Here are my system specs: ASUS P5GD1 MB Intel P4 3.0 GHZ CPU 2 x VS512MB400 Corsair value select memory (1GB total) etc...etc. I don't think the other components are that vital. My problem is that when I try to boot up my computer with both sticks of memory in any possible configuration, it does nothing. The drives power up and all of the fans turn on but there is no life after that. It doesn't load the BIOS settings, doesn't beep, doesn't do anything. The monitor stays off too. Just sits there humming. When I remove one of the sticks and try to boot up with only 1 stick of memory in, it works fine. No problems or unstableness or anything. It works fine with either one but not both. The manual and ASUS say that the MB should be able to run with these in DUAL channel. I have run the two sticks of memory fine in dual channel mode with my ASUS P4P800 E Deluxe MB and have tested them in there both since my problem and they still work so I don't necessarily think the memory is bad. Has anyone had any similar issues or any suggestions? I haven't updated the BIOS yet but after reading the fixes in the newer versions I didn't see anything regarding memory issues that the newer version would fix. Please HELP! Wired
Have you tried one stick in multiple slots? Could be a bad slot.
tjb1023
I have tried multiple slots and it still works fine. It's only when I try multiple sticks is when there is any problem. Singly, it runs perfectly. :-(
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted November 1, 2004 Corsair Employees Share Posted November 1, 2004 If both modules will run one up or in single channel but not in dual channel that would suggest a problem with the MB. I would suggest you talk to the MB maker about getting it replaced or repaired. Also you might make sure that you have the latest bios as well just in case it's a CPU issue!
