900D shipping fail

Just got my 900D as well as 7 other boxes containing my new x99 system.

The cardboard box it came in offered no clue as to what was waiting for me inside. As soon as i opened the box I noticed the styrofoam was busted on the end off both the top and bottom pieces, which happen to be the only 2 pieces in the entire box. I diddnt know this immediately.

The way the 900D is built, it needs support inside the case.

The case itself is Iron not aluminum, I should have payed closer attention to details about that when I was researching.

the drive bay doors are held on to the tray with a long FLIMSY plastic rod with nothing at the end to hold it in the bottom hole. These should be metal, or put them in the accessory box at least. ALL of my drive doors were off when i opened the box. I dont even know where most of them are, broken I guess and they fell out of the untapped corners of the box. I shouldnt have to spend more time and money trying to find something that will work. But thats exactly what i would do if that was my only problem.

The cover on the front hiding the 3 120s and the push in/out dust cover were both off when i opened the box. The snap off cover has four pegs that hold it in, one of mine is missing, can see bare metal. With the cover on i can push that corner in and move it freely.

The basement is separated from the main cavity by a small bar extending from frame. Without any kind of center support in the case all the handling from shipping caused visible fatigue on the metal where this bar attaches to the frame.

The basement door has 2 tabs at each end with a hole that goes over a pin. The tabs were bent in and wont line up with the pins at all on one of my doors. The door itself looked to be in good condition, looked square and flat. If i try to bend them back i could easily bent the front visible part of the door.

I really wish the case would have shipped with hinges and rods in a box or bag that i could put on myself instead of the plastic rod. Are we paying more for technology or parts/design/assembly? I would gladly sacrifice a little time if it allowed you to save money on assembly and put it towards quality.

The case itself needs pillows or styrofoam to try and keep it square as much as possible. This case is not rigid. If i decide to stick with this case I hope it improves when everything is installed.

My big gripe is of course time. Time is money to some but it is more valuable than that to me. Free time is hard to come by these days.

good, so newegg is going to ship a replacement so I can go through all this again. They cant just ship me a replacement door, cover and drive tray plastic rods.

Whats the best alternative to the 900D that will fit a 120.4 and 120.3 rads? I based my build off this case, so trying to find another case that can fit all the things i ordered for this case will limit my options.

Really wish i knew how flimsy this case and most of its parts was. Wish even more my 800d had a spot for a 120.4 rad.

The replacement door, cover and drive tray plastic rods you could get replaced from Corsair, you only have to put a ticket with them and let them know what the problem is with the 900D or the parts of it. I can understand what you are going true, I also have problems with my 900D, my third one is going back to the retailer also.

Just got my 2nd 900d and the basement doors dont want to stay shut, keep falling down. The front I/O cover that hides the USB ports is broken and will not latch. Looks like the latch itself is broken. Cant get the door to stay shut.

I gave it a quick once over but havent really taken a better look yet. Hope thats all I find. I havent sent the first 900d back to new egg yet, so out of the 2 cases i have here I might have one good case if i removed the bad parts from one and put the good parts on from the other one.

Got my commander link mini today too and its much smaller than i thought.

Yep, I would do the same if I had the opportunity, but like you I also was tired of shipping the cases back, and after disassembly the front bezel, looking for the fault why the panels didn't open easily, I could fix the problem with the panels, had to tighten a few very loose screws from the rails and bend the bar a little bit where the panels rest one, so I fixed almost one problem( panels are concave, used the straight panels of my other 900D for getting the bar straight), there are still parts that have to be replaced, but finally I also , if I get the faulty parts replaced, get a 900D that is 100%. My friend had ordered a 750D and ask me to have a look at it, damn that one came 100% ok out of the box, but for me it's a little to small for my needs, but it's also a big one. So you have luck or you don't have luck.
