stormbringer
Hi all Here's my situation. I started off with a H60 which I have used before (not the same one) and it looks like it failed in some fashion since the idle temps climbed from about 40 to 75, and therefore would get overheat errors when used under load. It had been very quiet throughout its life. I replaced it with a H80i which I have also used before (not the same one). Now when I turn it on, the fans spin up to full power, run for a while, drop down, and then run quietly until the CPU gets warm, then they spin back up and become quite loud. The temp however is around 40 so it works in that sense. I installed the CL 2.7.5339 at the same time I installed the H80i. I lost the visibility for the 3 SLI TITAN cards (which looks to be a known issue). I observe that the two H80i fans do not show up in CL. I observe a 0 RPM speed for my Corsair AX1200i, but at least it shows up. Perhaps I have the problem of the Corsair products not being found under Win8.1 that I have read about here. [My full system spec is in the profile]. I tried the things I found on the forum: -Disabling legacy USB -Disabling the USB device in device manager and then reenabling it -Reinstalling CL and deleting the hidden directory Has anybody been able to get this to work? I would hope that once I see the pump and fans in CL I can dial them back to lower speeds and reduce the noise. Otherwise this will be the loudest machine I have had in some time... thx SB
Corsair Employees Fauxbeard Posted September 5, 2014 Corsair Employees Share Posted September 5, 2014 Do you have the Asus ROG front panel installed? Ai Suite? These tend to conflict with our Link software. Unplug and/or uninstall Ai Suite and check for detection. Another thing you can try is to revert to 2.5.5145. stormbringer
Hi So I fixed the problem. I connected the pump via a standard mini USB cable (like found on cellphones from a few years ago) to an external USB port. I then wiped and reinstalled the latest CL. It found the H80i and the downloaded the firmware update for it. I see the pump and the two fans, and was able to select quiet mode which made a huge difference - my machine no longer sounds like an attack helicopter with two counterrotating rotor discs on takeoff. Finally I connected the internal USB cable moboard and it continued to work, so it does seem to be something with Windows not detecting it initially. Interestingly I had to do the exact same thing for my other Windows install on the machine (I have a dual boot setup) - fixing it on one didn't do anything for the other, so again it looks like a Windows thing. SB PS - while doing this I did observe that my AX1200i PSU's fan stopped spinning after boot. I get about 50c before it spins up. Is that typical? Is that typical? not to sound like im honking my own horn but i think I was the first one that realized a usb/mini to the rear almost always fixed usb issues,Ive been using this method for 2+ years and never have an issue. and yes,I too think its a windows issue or perhaps m/b's fault as Ive had usb issues with lots of different devices good to see you got thinks working... on boot your PSU does a self test for a few seconds and then stops, this is normal...
