Tiggerfish
hi. ive seen hundreds of forum posts and everyone seems to recommend the TWINX1024RE-3200LL for the SK8v .. HOWEVER .. i have found that the CM72SD512RLP-3200 is Registered + ECC. but for a fraction of the price... CM72SD512RLP-3200 is $234 for 1GB Manufacturer: CORSAIR Speed: DDR400(PC3200) Type: 184-Pin DDR SDRAM Error Checking: ECC Registered/Unbuffered: Registered Cas Latency: 2.5 Support Voltage: 2.6V Bandwidth: 3.2GB/s Organization: 64M x 72-Bit Warranty: Lifetime TWINx1024RE-3200LL is $383 for 1GB Manufacturer: Corsair Speed: DDR400(PC3200) Type: 184 Pin DDR SDRAM Error Checking: ECC Registered/Unbuffered: Registered Cas Latency: 2-3-2-6 Support Voltage: 2.6V Bandwidth: 3.2GB/s Organization: two 64M x 64 -Bit Special Features: Low Latency Warranty: Lifetime The only two differances appear to be that the TWINX1024 has 64 - bit whereas the cheaper RAM has 72-bit .. and the Cas Latency .. TWINX1024 : 2-3-2-6 || CHEAPER :2.5 i dont know what either of that means, could someone tell me about the bit/cas latency please? and then hopefully post a conclusion . Is the TWINX worth the extra $150?? and will the cheaper RAM work in a SK8v with a FX-51 ?? thank you so much. Kasper
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted November 1, 2004 Corsair Employees Share Posted November 1, 2004 First off Twinx sets are 2 modules for the price. And come with heat spreaders and would be tested Cass 2-3-2-6 at DDR400 where as CM72SD512RLP-3200 would be JEDEC compliant Cass 3-3-3-8 with out heat spreaders.
