Carbide 540 with an AX1500i PSU

Will a Carbide 540 accept an AX1500i PSU? Plus the holes on the case for the PSU is closer to the back and the fan on the AX1500i is closer to the middle of the long PSU, will this affect the efficiency of the PSU?

The specification for the PSU for the Carbide 540 is 200mm, the AX1500i is 225mm long. Has anyone modified the 540 case to fit an AX1500i?

Hi Corax,

There shouldn't be an issue with putting the AX1500i onto the Carbide Air 540. However, the bottom cable passthrough will be partially blocked so there may be some issue with the passing larger cables through the bottom passthrough.

I went ahead and added approximately the length of the AX1500i inside a Carbide Air 540.

Since I rarely move my case around, I just stuck it under there without attaching it. I plan on doing a rebuild in the near future (New color, maybe acryllic tubing, etc etc and then I plan on drilling new holes for the screws to have in properly in place.

If you still want an image, I can send you one though. :)

I suspect they have removed the internal thumbscrews and plate that would otherwise obstruct the 1500. Then secure the end of the box with 4 tiny screws through the mounting holes at the rear of the 540. I don't remember if the screws came with the 540 or whether they are in the AX1500i kit. Either way, you could find an appropriate size at any hardware store.

There is enough space for cable to go through the bottom cut out of the MB tray.

I would leave the PSU bracket for support, just flip it the other way so that the PSU is even when you secure it.
