Breimeister
Corsair says my motherboard supports CMZ32GX3M4A1866C9 memory however that memory is more expensive than and not as available as CMY32GX3M4A1866C9 memory and I would like to know why? Everything looks the same except the heatsink!
Breimeister
Does anyone from Corsair read this forum? I would like to get an answer to my question.
emissary42
I am not a Corsair employee, but will try to answer your question anyways. No manufacturer can actually test all possible memory and mainboard combinations in house. The costs and manpower needed would go through the roof, very fast. So while there will always be some untested combinations, that does not mean these don't work. All that says is, they were not actually tested. For most mainstream and mid tier kits incompatibilities are very very rare. Also your ASUS Maximus VI Hero does have very good memory compatibility in general, so don't worry too much about it ;)
Breimeister
Thanks for the reply! I really can't rely on the Asus qualified memory listing as there are too many error and omissions. The memory I am currently using was on that list when I bought it and it has been removed. The removal from that list had no affect on my Corsair Dominator Platinum memory. :-) Corsair says that CMZ32GX3M4A1866C9 will work with my motherboard but that is pricey and not available as available as the CMY32GX3M4A1866C9. I'm not worried, I just won't buy their memory and be happy with what I have. :-)
