Bazminton
I am experiencing system freezing during gameplay when the cas latency is set to 2.5, however this problem goes away when it is set to 3. Can you tell me if it was meant to be set to 3 and any more of the bios settings for this module that I may find helpful? Thanks, Barry Morgan memory part no.VS256MB400, unbuffered 32x64. Bazminton
One Sisoft Sandra burn-in test and Memtest-86 test 5 repeatedly 50 times, to check stability of the timings (as read in a seperate post) and it hasnt crashed since in the game. Strange as it used to crash at exactly the same point in the game. Ive switched all the bios settings for the memory back to maximum ie. 2.5-3-3-8 with every other setting like 1T command control and stuff to auto, and its working. Theres some hissing noises Ive heard from the system which I cant locate, and all the transistors I can see look fine. Should I be worried? Ive read so much now Im thinking of 'tightening' the timings to 2.5-3-3-7 and even 3-3-6 to see if it works lol. From what Ive read some people say that the wrong psu can lead to instability, and that may be whats been hissing, but its working so far. thanx anyhow
Wired
No problemo! Generally if it crashes at the exact same point in a game, it's usually the game, or something in the game causing a specific instance of something that triggers a fault in corrupted video drivers. Bazminton
Just a note to say that when I tightened the memory timings to 3-3-7 the Memtest-86 memory testing program using test no.5 found no errors with it, yet the game again crashed in much the same way as before? Now, it had crashed like this at 3-3-8 in the past. Does this now mean it will never be stable at this again or does it mean that it just needed burning in? Just in case, will disabling 1T command control or anything else help it, or even selecting a 3-3-9 setting at 2.5CL to make it rock stable? Any suggestions? Thanks
