clevin
Hey guys, I'm currently trying to run Furmark on an AX1500i with dual 295X2's setup on my test bench. I've got a separate PCI-E cable plugged in to each slot on the card (no pigtails), but the PSU just keeps on shutting down within a few seconds. I also tried playing around with the digital link software, but the system still shuts off. Anyone know what the deal is? I'm not sure if I received a bad unit or if it's something else I did wrong. Thanks.
SpDFrek
You have to either enable single rail mode or set the PCIe rails to 40 amps in order to run 295X2's. They pull over 30 amps on a single rail causing an OCP event and the system to shut down. The blog below details how to do this. http://www.corsair.com/en-us/blog/2014/may/setting-up-ocp-on-the-ax1500i
Bytales
I really dont understand, is the AX1500i single or multiple rail PSU ? If its a single rail PSU it shouldnt have been an issue at all. By having to enable single rail, tells me its not a single rail as i might have though, requiring the link software to enable single rail, which sucks if you have 2 PSUs, as 2 of them are not detected by the link software, hence, this thread here : http://forum.corsair.com/v3/showthread.php?t=131195
SpDFrek
The AX1500i can be both single rail or multi-rail. The default from the factory is mutli-rail modem (30 amp per rail). Up until the 295X2 came out there was no single device on the market pulling more than 30 amps on a single PCIe connector. Now that it has been out and people are pulling large amounts of power from those cards I am sure Corsair may make some changes to try and support those cards without the software. Since the max is 40 amps per rail just having the default at 40 amps instead of 30 would help out.
Corsair Employees jonnyguru Posted August 18, 2014 Corsair Employees Share Posted August 18, 2014 Either enable single +12V rail mode or crank the OCP up to 40A and then you'll be fine. You only have to do it once in Link as long as you don't unplug the PSU from the wall (which will reset the firmware). Link does not have to be running for these settings to keep. Bytales
So bassically if ichange setting, then i unplug it from the power socket, then it resets, and i need to re-set it again. It would be nice if the software would support 2 PSUs, as i have 2 USB ports directly on the motherboard, usb usb female connector, look, here near the USB 3.0 connector http://www.tweaktown.com/image.php?image=http://imagescdn.tweaktown.com/content/6/1/6120_10_asus_z9pe_d8_ws_workstation_intel_c602_motherboard_review_full.jpg I sure hope Corsair would change the link software to support 2 of them, as i most definetly need 2 PSU, and i would sure like for them to be titanium rating. Ahtlon
I always thought that the AXi psu's worked in single mode as default mode. Did you also overclocked your cpu and memory, if yes , put those on default speed and try again. This a thing I first would do.Give it a try.
